An unlikely match.

One is a 8500 with hd-8s the other is a Xg with HD-144s at first they did not like each other but I forced them to play nice. the image is so bright on a 8 ft wall that I need shades If I go over 50 on the contrast. I bet I could go 13 ft wide and still be bright. I know this is not a perfect setup, but with less than two hr setting up both I think It looks good. oh By the way I have 60.00 in the marquee and 87.00 in the Xg A hd furry and a 20.00 vga splitter/booster........ That is the reason I love Crt..

Looks great for punch. How does it look sharpness wise? What are you running into them?

I say go for a bigger screen if they/you can take it.

Can't beat that bang for buck though!

The NEC is using the 480P memory line (IDC3000) line doubler unless you over wrote it. Have fun with the grayscale on that. Doug

I would go larger but my wall is only 96" wide I am however in the build stage of a Theater that may have a 13ft screen. I am running them at 1080i because the Xg will not do 1080p without problems. as far as sharpness I can see scan lines on 75% of the screen from 9ft away I figure with more effort and hd-144 for the marquee I could get it better. I have the contrast on both set at 35 I think at this rate the tubes would last a very long time.

Doug,

I did write over it when I set up the 1080i I didn't even know that line was for 480p. I have in no way set up the gray scale on the Marquee. Because of the pain in the Ass the the Xg is for me to set up I left it and only set up the 8500 to match it.

LOL @ forcing them to play nice... almost like planting two kids who hate each other at the same table and saying to play nice...

I think a second 1020 may be in my future :shifty:
