My 1209 works great normally. Recently though, the 1209/s has darked out with HV drop out. It comes back after a while if I restart but might be related to overheating. It is mounted midheight so I can work on it. The dark outs corresponded with evenings that I had a fire in the wood stove but the room was only 76 and it worked fine in the Summer with 80+ temperatures. Last night after a couple of dark outs it did not and has not come back.

I swapped the SMPS and the G2 boards with my 1208 and the 1208 had HV, didn't check anything else. I also backed off the horizontal size pot in case I was over running it. No luck. The EHT boards are almost identical, both the "old" style as Curt describes but one with a small PC added circuit. So I am reticent to swap them w/o getting the blessing from someone like Curt. The Quadrupler is really hard to get out due to one hard to reach screw, but I am still trying to swap them.

Any guesses or ideas?
Thx

Barry

TV/Projector: All of them!

Swap them, no problem. If both sets are pre 1998, you're fine.

It's most likely the quad itself, that's very common. You can make removal of the quad easier by drilling a hole in the side of the bottom of the case, level with that screw to fit a slot screwdriver in there.

Curt,

I swapped them, no change, I swapped the Quad and it came alive with that wonderful HV crackle. So, where do I get a new quad? Have yo a supplier of do you supply them?

Barry
