I am using an Invidia 6600gt videocard and 84.21 drivers, my problem is when switching between the Hdmi inputs (satellite and PC) the EXT-HD Colorspace Is wrong on the PC (huge green push) but easily corrected by pressing "display" button on the remote which as I understand toggles it between 444 and 442. This occurs every time I switch inputs. I can upgrade the nvidia drivers if someone can recommend another version...Thanks

Display botton only display the digital video mode you are receiving, no change the source format.

Thanks for reply, all I can tell you is that when I switch back and forth between the inputs the htpc always displays the wrong colorspace and pressing the "display" button always corrects the problem. (This color issue has also been mentioned by Speedyandre in the "having problems with new EXT-HD thread" pg2) I can't be sure where the actual change is taking place, moome says it can't be the EXT-HD if that's true then the only thing I can think of is that pressing the "display" button is causing the videocard to modify it's output. Moome, does pressing "display" refresh the EDID?? This PC has worked flawessly for three years with moomes other products so I am hoping this may be just a driver issue. Has anyone else used a PC with the EXT-HD yet?

the display botton will not change video mode, it only display the video mode you receiving!

In some playing around, I also noticed pressing the "display" button causes my projector (NEC 6PGXtra) to lose synch. I take it to mean the EXT-HD is changing the output to the projector, or some handshaking is lost between the EXT and the source.

Specifically, I press the "display" button, and:

"H4" is displayed on the EXT LED display.

The small amber light comes on (the one right above the printed "ON").

Projector clicks, loses synch, re-synchs (or sometimes goes to "unregistered signal").

This happens every time I press the "display" button.

I'm going to add this to the "Having Problems with News EXT-HD" thread, since I've been replying there every few days.

the Display button is for debug purpose, so please do not push it when normal using!

bbgj35 says the color problems he's having (using DVI from his HTPC) are exactly the same as the problems I had with my Momitsu DVD player's DVI output: http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=86917#86917

I've hooked up 3 sources on the ext. box:

1 Dvdplayer on component
2 Tv cable decoder on hdmi
3 HT-pc on hdmi (dvi output GF6600GT)

Only when I switch from either input to the HT-pc the picture's black turns green and white turns into red.
The only way to correct the HT-pc's picture is pressing 'Display' on the remote.
It doesn't matter what resolution and refresh the HT-pc has, it turns green and red when choosing it's hdmi input.

I'm happy with the fact that the Display knob makes the HT-pc's display normal, but it's not normal that the green picture appears anyway Wink
Hopefully it has to do with the 'ringing' that will be suppressed, are there any results of the tests?

Btw, I've downloaded a tool that can read the edid and also the Gamma settings, it's called Monitor Asset manager of Entech Taiwan, google for 'moninfo'.
When refreshing the data with this tool it doesn't indicate that the Gamma setting has been changed when I changed it with the remote, it shows 2.5 all the time.
Maybe this has to do with the potmeter in the box being turned full clockwise or anti clockwise ....

André

Thanks speedyandre for contributing to this thread, your description about this problem is excellent and describes exactly what is occurring with my HTPC too. We are both using the 6600gt video card so which driver version are you using? I hope someone with a different brand/series videocard can tell us their experience. I will try the monitor software you mentioned.

no, display botton will only let you know the video source format is 444 or 422,
so what the brand name of the graphic card, i think we need one for debug!

Update; I am waiting for repair parts that Moome shipped last weekend, he has told me there a fix for my original problem of a greenish screen with DVI sources (colorspace problem) plus the EE ringing problem and the slow, unreliable remote. A replacement chip was mentioned by Moome but he did not elaborate as to which one. SMD soldering is no problem for me, so as soon as I receive the parts I will report the results here.

Interesting. I had the green problem with DVI too, but it fixed itself. Just went away and hasn't been a problem since. ??

I only exchanged the 6 smd diodes, the big chip and I've mounted the heatsink.
All works fine now, I did post a picture in the EE topic.
My GF6600GT (agp) is also XFX, 128MB and driver is 9.1.3.1.
Even a cheap 3:1 hdmi switcher to extend the inputs of the Moome box works great!

Moome and the others did a great job to solve the problems and almost for free Razz
