I just wanted to validate my diagnosis, before buying parts. Long story short... I didn't get the memo and I think I need a new VIM.
2 Years ago I built my home theater and bought a reconditioned Marquee 8000 with the anamorphic mod. I also built a htpc and managed to get in on the (first?) Moome DVI card buy. Flash forward to last night... After 2 years of trouble-free CRT bliss, I decided it would be cool try out the Wii on the big screen. After sitting for the shelf for the past two years, I finally get around to installing the moome card (so I could use it's RGB component input). Power down, install card, power up... everything looks good. Looking at the Moome card, the SEL light is on and the DVI light comes when I switch it. I didn't have anything handy to test the new inputs and the wife is ready to watch a movie, so I figured I would mess with it tomorrow. About an hour into the movie, I see a brief (h?) sync out of range message and the screen goes black. I don't see any error lights, so I power down, remove the dvi card, and let the projector cool. I power it up again, still blank.
The symptoms are: no video, no error lights (including LVPS), red and blue tube have power, but no image. Green tube is dark and this is probably why I can't get the proj menus to come up either. Standby and power operate normally. I pulled the lvps and double checked the fuses. Everything seems fine and I think startup sounds normal (click whirr click crackle click, I'm suspicious of that last click, but it could be my imagination). I pulled the VIM and see no toasty components, but I suspect this is where my problem lies, because...
After a bit of search, I came across a thread where someone mentions jumpers on the Moome card. Jumpers? What jumpers? After more searching, I find a one page manual (not included in my box) that says set J1 open and J2 closed for M8xxx/M9xxx. Uh oh, I look down at a dvi card ( Marquee VIM 2005.11.30 REV1.12 ) that has J1 closed and J2 open.
Does this diag seem correct or should I be checking something else? Is the VIM serviceable by someone with basic solder skills? Suggestions that don't involve bringing it down from the ceiling will be greatly appreciated, because I solemnly swore the next time I lifted a CRT projector to my ceiling it would be a 9500.
Lastly... I have learned a valuable lesson and will now stay current on the forums.
Thanks for reading,
David

Hi
I think it blows one of the fusible resistors in the top left corner of the VIM,near the connector. I am sure that Curt will have the resistor or will be able to repair it for you.

Thanks for the replies! I probed around a bit and haven't found anything yet. I may have to seek professional help.
