As an aside, Monty Haul DnD campaigns were named after an American gameshow host who gave players heaps of prizes...and yes his name was Monty Hall. BTW, There was no game show host called Hack N Slash to my knowledge.

James, a little offtopic, but do HD10GT17's focus properly down to a 72" screen? According to specifications they shouldn't.

Hi August,
Not off topic at all as far as i'm concerned, tis all CRT related and what could be better than that, ignore the specifications you read on the Lenses, they are not 100% accurate, trust me they will indeed go down to 72" not much room left on the adjustment slider though.
From memory I once got a set to focus down to 68-69" cant remember how the customers screen was that size, must have been a home made special (it was a fixed) however they were on a 1209.
I originally fitted my existing tubes (410ish hours) into a 9500 chassis which had the dreaded HD -10L's (ok they ain't that bad really) then an ULTRA chassis came along ....with GT17's and..well what's a man to do eh?
As a matter of interest (or not to you guy's) when Henry (crtprojectors) ordered his new 9500 ultra in late 2004 they insisted he had HD-10E's even though he asked for 17's?
He changed them for 17's at a later date, but I noticed no discernable difference whatsoever,
And to leave you all with a wonderful thought...why O why didn't some crazy guy bring out Anamorphic lens for our CRT's, our unit's which have held the high ground for so long would have been shouting from an even loftier Perch...ah dreams eh?

Yes the animorphic lenses would be a great addition. Lets use ALL the vertical raster we have available! Can someone make them for the cheap guys and skip the reatil pricing and go strait to surplus?

No they do not. For that size screen you would need HD-10L's

I asked because he has the GT17's on a 72" screen. Did you try yourself?

Yes I did try it myself. In fact I'm running a 72" screen with 10L's as we speak.

Hi August,
Is your PJ a marquee? if so no problem as I mentioned in a little detail above, two of us are running 9500 ultra's and the other a non ultra all with GT17's on 72" screens, and many a visitor has been to my home to see how nicely it does work.
My 20:20 (as I call it) is opened out to the Max and is mounted as close as I possibly can, in fact I will just pop into my lounge and give you a physical measurement....off I go.... just done that and it measures 92.5" (235cm) from the centre of the green lens (held on actual glass) to the top portion of my screen ( tape measure held on actual white material).
I hope this helps, having had HD-10l lens on my unit previous, thus living with them for quite some time, and then popping on the 17's made an instant difference, subtle (but noticeable) to the centre) and more of a difference to roughly a 30cm border all around the screens perimeter..so to speak.

Hi James,
Thank you for the details and measurements. I do not currently own a marquee but I am looking into buying one sometime in the near future. I have a 72" screen with a sony D50 currently, I would probably not use anything much bigger than that. The Marquees seem to be getting cheaper our side of the pond, so I am waiting for a good opportunity. I could always invest in an 8500 first and later on put 9" tubes in I guess. I have also seen a 9000 with some defect in Germany that might be interesting to fix or even pick up for the tubes.

Hi Tom,
Not 100% sure on exact details for the HD-26, cant remember which iteration they were in Barco speak, and I dare not stick my neck out and just guess, me being me I prefer to put my head on the block only if I have tried it myself or at least experienced it, damn I wish I could put my head on the block over those two 'Gal's' 'Overclocker' posted up
Tom...one of these day's i'm determined to sip some Costa Rican Java with you, hell who cares if theres a house there or not at the moment, stick that 1209 on the floor and get out a white sheet, cuppa coffee and just take in that view, if we project some of 'Overclockers' images at the same time then we really will be in paradise
August, glad I could help you, if you ever feel inclined to make the relatively short trip over here come and have a look at 72" of eye candy, I would make you most welcome.
Now on another note, Henry has 3x JVC HD-100 left when I spoke to him late this afternoon, he is away on Sunday so i'm crossing my fingers they all dont get sold before the weekend....cos I want to set one up in my lounge at the weekend, damn it Doug will be after me for Trolling if i'm not careful here
James
