I am in the process of setting up my new ht and have recently purchased a barco 808s. I went through what I believe is the basic set up for the unit and am getting ok results while projecting 18' onto a 120" X 72" screen. I am currently in the process of hooking up a new hd furry converter with a rtc 2200 transcoder hope this will optomize picture. The problem I can not figure out is my convergence continues to wander. Every time I turn the unit off and come back to it the next day I need to tweek it some more. I am also starting to have problems with the left and right edge of the screen having curve in them that when I get one side right the other is wrong. I will be the first to admit not knowing alot about crts and would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks B-Swank

Drifting convergence on Barcos is rare. chances are the mechanical setup isn't right.
Go into the service menu and do a 'set to midposition', and then run through the 'installation' menu. Make sure the + sign is completely overlapped before going further. If the H lines are out on the R, G, and B, then you need to tweak the V shift trimpots for the R and B tubes. (see the 'tips' section of the main site for info on where those are located in the 'Barco 808' section. I'll bet getting those + signs exactly right will help massively with drifting convergence.
Cheers!

I hesitate to offer advice after Curt; he knows as much as anybody about anything CRT, and vastly more than I. But I can say that my 1997-vintage 808s seems quite solid on convergence, and doesn't appear to drift or even come up misconverged before warming up.
I'm not sure whether differences cold and warmed up are pronounced with convergence on EM units, but it's a possibility. When troubleshooting is tough, try to eliminate any inconsistencies first! Feel free to drop me a PM if you want to shoot the sh*t about setting up an 808s. I'm about to do a tube swap, which ought to be quite fun...

Of course as usual when you take your problem to the mechanic the problem stops. I fired up the projector tonight, about 24 hrs from shutting it down and the convergence was almost perfect (in my eyes). My room is actually 126"x 18' so the actual lens is only about 14 to 14.5' from my screen. I think this is approximately where I should be. Also curious about my picture, which is being shown via xbox 360, it seems to be curving in only on the top left of the screen. When I try to adjust the geometry to remove the issue it throws the right side out. it isn't very noticable during widescreen viewing but full screen gaming it jumps out at you.
I appreciate any input thanks B Swank

Pull one of the lenses and see if you're shooting close to the edge of one of the tube phosphors. While you might have a convergence tray issue, it can also be that you're too close to the edge of the tube/lens, and that can cause curving in one corner.
your raster/image should be using this much area of the tube:
