When you install a tube how do you route the HV cable from the tube to the HV DC block. The projector is a G70.

The HV cables are touching some grounded parts. The cables are triple insulated in these spots. Is this acceptable?

Am I over thinking this?

If you are worried about the HV arcing through the insulation then get some plastic tubing that is large enough to go over what is already there, you can use food grade plastic tubing which looks like a larger diameter version of aquarium tubing.

Because of the rubber boot and the contact on the end of the HV cable where it plugs into the HV splitter (not the end at the tube) you will need a large enough diameter tube to fit over that, don't worry about it not being a snug fit around the HV cable as the air gap will be extra insulation.

Add as many layers as you feel comfortable with or as many as you can fit.

It is not really necessary but safer is better that sorry.

Dave,

I was thinking more about do's and don'ts for HV Cable routing. The tubes and HV leads are OEM so I don't think I would need to add extra insulation.

The one thing I did when I replaced my HV lead was to 'clock' the way it came out of the tube so it didn't run so close to the X-ray shields. That's what killed the old one, well that and the fact this set was owned by a rental company and I'm sure it got bounced around alot while moving. Thus abrading the cable and making a VERY cool 1" purple ark to the chassis's X-ray shields.

By the way you can see how the new lead has the clear tubing that goes all the way to the boot.

A/R

The OEM cable is done up similar to what you have only it uses a rubber/silicone second jacket around the insulated HV lead all the way back to the DC block. Right at the bell is a third layer/jacket that gets it by the studs that bolt the tube to the "C" element.

I was just surprised "stand-offs" were not used and that the cable just lays where ever.

My Sony 1252 has those clips all the way along the cables and my Ampro had the double sided taped click clips that held the HV leads.

No but I know which car I left it in. I'll grab it next time I'm at my car storage yard.
