I sent a product to moome for service twice. I was never asked to pay for the return postage.

I'm sure Moome will be sending out the fix up parts at no charge, as this is a design fault and not a fault of the end user.

I know for the majority of end users this is not going to be an option as we don't have the skills or equipment to be able to do board level modifications. Ideally Moome should hire someone in the US to make the mods otherwise it looks as though I'm looking at a $25-30+ shipping charge back to Taiwan. Just waiting for Moome's announcement on how he plans to handle this.

Agreed 100%. You and I think alike. Smile

I just received the test parts from Moome an hour ago. As expected, they're absolutely tiny surface mount devices (SMD). 1-2 mm wide. Tiny.

Very soon I have someone bringing over his SMD soldering station to test this out with my EXT-HD. Moome's plan (if all goes as expected) is to have this same individual handle the repairs for Moome's customers. Moome may be willing to mail out the parts to those that want, but frankly, this is not easy soldering. You can't do this with your typical soldering iron.

I agree, I have special small tips for my soldering stations and small diameter solder and a light / magnifier to do small SMD components. Yes and if you're not experienced you can make a real mess of things.

Kal, let us know how the fix works out.

Thanks moome, and Kal, I hope that the unit is salvagable. I have a completely dead remote and I don't thinks they are worth the shipping back and forth, Moome would you please send me a replacement so when the unit does eventually get fixed I can use it. My name is Larry Kelly. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks again,
Larry

I haven't seen anywhere in this thread or others if the second batch of EXT-HD's, of which I have ordered one, will solve all of the problems in the current batch, or just some of them. Also there was an estimate of a 2 - 3 week delay in shipping, but it looks like Moome is still analyzing some of the problems.

Can we get definitive answers to these question? And, if necessary, how do I cancel my order?

Thx, Moome. I will wait a little longer to see how this works out. I am not a very sophisticated user, just want my Barco to work with digital sources with minimal effort!

Reminds me of the mess I made inside my Avel LP2 linkplayer when removing two small surface mount capcitors (or was inductors and shorting capacitors?) to remove an unecessary filter hampering the output resolution. It worked but I was lucky - there was solder splatter all over the place. No way I want to do it again (even on the new IODATA high res linkplayer I just got).

I'd like to remember, Moome has costumers outside US Mr. Green !! What about them?
I bought Ext HD from Italy and experienced same problems with edge enhancement, unreable remote etc... so that I had to remove it from video chain... Sad
Hope Moome has a nice solution for EU costumers too..

I'm from The Netherlands so this applies to me too Wink
If the mods are too risky to do by myself (no smd equipment here) I'll need another option.
Let's see what happens first, my Moome box is not complete useless.
It works fine with SD dvd on component and hdmi on my hd tv decoder.

I may be mistaken but I believe Moome was going to do the mods himself for any non-North American orders. It will definitely be handled by someone. Moome knows that just sending out parts to people does not constitute a solution.
