Seen as though we're all expected to "go green" here, who here correctly disposes of their used tubes?
I like to throw them out into the river and shoot at them with a 22. Wink

That kind of stuff can't all be in the OT section because people like Mark can't refrain from imposing his own value system on you. He can't possibly let you post some pictures of your stack of amps and just say, "nice" or say nothing at all. Instead, he has to condescendingly ask you how many kilowatt-hours your equipment consumes (as if you firing up a stack of amps is somehow ruining the planet). Then, he proudly tells us all about how he spat on a Hummer - as if we give a sh*t how wonderful he thinks he is.

Then, there's people like me who can't let a post like that slide, and has to call him on his bull**** and tell him what a self-righteous ass I think he is.

Me, too - and I've posted to that effect several times. In fact, Mark was the reason several of those times. Unfortunately, he apparently can't help himself and sometimes, neither can I.

Sorry for crapping in your thread. This was no place for for my rant - nor Mark's BS.

Anyway, nice setup. Could you please add another sub or two and a few more amps? If it would piss off Mark, that'd be great.

Mark, I just want to know when you're going to replace your Hummer-like wasteful and inefficient CRT projector with a much more energy-efficient bulb projector. Your carbon footprint is conspicuously larger than necessary with that dinosaur of a projector running in your home.

Based on this thread, I feel even better about the Crown pro amps I just bought to put in my rack. That'll add at least another couple of kilowatt-hours to my monthly power consumption.

"electric backup" No $hit. All you need to do is go to your t-stat and flip the fan switch from "auto" to "on" and fire up both those big AmPro's and you'll have more heat than you can stand Wink

Where would I go to bitch about having to sit in meetings with an improperly setup LCD projector who is a) aimed wrongly, b) in desperate need of a lamp and cleaning and c) gets turned on and off by a WALL SWITCH after being used for in 3-4 minute intervals?

with all those speakers(..are those electrostatics on the side?) and EQ's I am wondering what you did to set up and timbre match? is your receiver one of the self calibrating units?. My wife was looking over my shoulder at the Amp stack/speaker picture and said "what is all that?" I explained that it was a "magneto-acoustic heating system" and that we need one too......

Well I guess that is welcome too. Thumbs Up Mr. Green

*sigh*

Yeah. Even though I don't give a rat's about a digital projector blowing itself to bits, it would be an unnecessary waste of company money... so I had to tell the instructor NOT to be doing that sh*t, just turning it on for 3-4 minutes 3-4 times an hour to run through a few screenshots, and then turning it off by the wallswitch. Even more annoying was that the picture had lost all saturation and contrast, and was a reddish-pinkish mess, and maybe 1/8th of the image was shot over the top border of the screen.

Do people actually get PAID to do such a poor installation? I know nothing about projector distances/throws etc but I'm sure i could have done a much better job...

You think that is bad, they just started to install digital projectors in the high school here, they are shooting onto an 8' wide screen. So why again is the picture only 4' wide not to mention not even close to square. I know what you mean by turning it on and off with the light switch. We have a technically incompatant teacher here who turns his on and off by unplugging and plugging it back in (it's only been replaced three times in the past ten weeks.)

And the best part, they run the projectors off of VCR's and Betamax players Shocked

yeah now its a sharp looking machine, i even used a trick that i learned in my graphic design days, i used rubber cement to cover up the fancy shiny plastic emblem that says the model name on it. just peel the rubber cement off after the paint drys. Smile

We used dishdetergent diluted 2:1 with water (2 parts detergent ) when spraying part of a car. You spray it on, let it dry and go ahead and paint. All the overspray washes right off. It's the fast and dirty (clean!) way to paint something with out tape and paper masking.

hah, so you just wipe off the soap where youwant the paint to go? or maybe just use a stencil like thing to make clean lines. i just remember the rubber cement trick from my B&W photo class. we were doing sepia tone effects and you put rubber cement on parts you d idn't want the sepia tone chemical to go.

Cool I never did get to do sepia prints Sad,

You put the soap everywhere you DON'T want the paint to stick. For example: if you're painting the fender you spray everything BUT the fender with the soap and then you go ahead and paint the fender. All the overspray from the paint lands on the soap and when the paint dries you wash it all away. No need to tape things off. Use to work great on a $300 DIY paint job. In and out of the shop in 2 hours.

Paint guaranteed to 55 MPH or 55 minutes whichever comes first. Wink

BTW are you going to paint the rest of that ECP blue?

And Paul, sorry for the wayyyyyyy off topic. Let me see if I can re-rail this thread.

Any future plans for the HT Papalek?

you know its funny you should ask that.... i wasn't going to touch that because i wasn't sure if i could remove the bottom panels, but the other night i was looking at it and i think i may want to paint it flat black to match my line doubler. i think it would look dumb if i painted the bottom part blue. i think i would like a two tone look. do i have to remove the plastic upper case to remove the bottom panels you think? that case was a pain in the arse to get off and back on again... actually harder to get back on.

and yeah i guess it did get off topic... i think that was my fault. sorry. with the color of my ECP case, i just found it funny the guy on here chose the same color i did Razz

The only future addition plans are, Adding a 15" sub under the second row and two more amps. Plus I need to get a HDfury for my HD-A2
