Hey,

Bought by a new ebay account (zero feedback). I hope for the sellers case that's not just the first sign of a headache.

That's exactly what happened to my G90 auction that just ended the other day!! This is the second time this has happened to me selling a projector on Ebay!! The thing that sucks is that before I could contact the legit bidders, Ebay had already wiped it clean so I was stuck and couldn't try to sell it to someone seriously interested. They did refund my listing fees yesterday, but I won't re-list it on Ebay. These guys snipe in at the last minute an ruin a perfectly good auction and I'm not really sure how to prevent it. It used to be a great way to sell stuff, but now it is becoming a pain in the ass.

Curt, do you have to deal with a lot of these guys? Or do you mainly list for advertising purposes?

Go into ebay preferences and select no bids from bidders with zero feedback, you can also block people with more than x number of negs.

I would avoid the pre-approved bidder option as that puts most off and is used by scammers and shill bidding sellers.

One day I really need to explore eBay and their options, rather than just punching in 'CRT projector' and 'cool stuff that Curt wants that no one else will bid on' Thumbs Up

Seems like the scammers went away for a couple of years, but I got nailed twice recently. One was a hijacked account with 500+ positive f/bs..Sad eBay caught that one within 1/2 hour and refunded all fees very quickly.

It's rare that I sell anything on eBay but the small stuff, but I did sell one G70 and a 1208 a while back, much to my surprise.

G90 still makes excellent scam bait.

Sad too,.. when Buying a G90 isn't fun there's something terribly wrong with the world.

TV/Projector: Sony G90 X2 - Vidikron Vision 1

I had one "guy" do a BIN on the Vision 1 I have up on eBay,

It was hilarious - he sent me a "Citibank" payment receipt that said:

"Citibank are telling you that the buyer has paid you. You should send the goods immediately cos [sic] they are paid for"

Then, 2 days later I got a spoofed email from eBay saying that my eBay account was about to be suspended because I hadn't sent the goods yet.

After gathering up all the relevant mailer information, I sent this all off to eBay, to abuse@gmail etc .. within 4 hours the gmail account had been de-activated and the eBay account vanished. This gets the scammers very upset as they usually have a lot of mail they are waiting on (MTCNs) ... They might have tens of thousands of dollars sent to them and they are waiting for the MTCNs so they can claim... but if their email account gets cancelled, the whole lot is lost. *grin*

Videogon has recently been infested - one scammer had a Pearl up for $1400 US - I asked him for more photos and he sent me some that "he had just taken" with his camera phone but they had eBay watermarks. His address was supposedly in the UK but his mailer IP pointed at the US via a proxy. I left negative feedback and sent an email to Videogon but the idiots cancelled my Videogon account and the scammer is still raking in bundles of $1400 payments. It seems Videogon never answer their emails either.

Damn scammers!

If I had my time again I would seriously think I would have got a pair of 9500s like Gino did. In retrospect, I think I understand his thought processes. Having said that, stacking G90s is easier and whilst blending has its advantages the extra brightness and CR of a stack is appealing to me more and more.

Mate, when are you going to make the trip up north and see for yourself? Heck, I've been around the world to see CRT setups and I'm about to do it again in a couple of months, sheeeesh... and you call yourself an enthusiast Rolling Eyes Wink
