I believe i saw one of those video games a looooong time ago, around 2001. It was noisy with a lotta fans, and had a blue CRT.

I am confused here.
Are you talking about wire-frame as in showing polygons (lines between the dots) then plotting it out on a raster.
Or plotting a vector on a lithographic(?) display like a laser or scope?

Barco has a few lithographic(?) projectors made for simulators, HUD etc.

Actually there is a difference in wire-frame vs polygon graphics, but I guess it doesn't matter, since the result will probably be the same, i.e. you can use a higher resolution when not filling or texturing the "modell", and you'd want to use the highest resolution possible since the more points you can plot the better the details, but if you want to retain the sharpness on an actual textured image you usually have to step down the resolution a notch, or a lot all things considering. (Of course it depends on the graphics processor as well.)

The essential point, if I lost it that is, is that computer graphics is different from video images when it comes to sharpness and resolutions. We are still dealing with definitions that came into use a long time ago. If they made a CRT projector from scratch today for private home use there would probably not be a difference in graphic and video resolution, pretty much like digitals.

A good 9" machine will give you all the resolution you should need. If you have the money to spend I would go for a 9500LC ultra with full MP mods

Regarding the 9500lc Ultra- my understanding is that it's only additional features (over the 9500lc) are additional geometry controls for use with a curved/torus/dome screen, and the ability to handle higher refresh rates. The video circuitry and bandwidth are identical. Is this true?

Would it be better to start with an Ultra, or get a regular LC and have $2000 left over for mods?

I've read through this and the other forum, and opinions vary considerably.

Thanks, Mark

I know the Ultra gives you better geometry control, I'm not sure what else it gives you though.

Go with the standard 9500 unless you need the extra capabilities, a standard 9500 with MP mods will beat a stock 9500ultra any day
