Is it possible that you haven't toggled the pattern repeat function within AVIA ?
From the Title menu, select "Advanced AVIA" , then click on the "Repeat Pattern On" submenu at the bottom left so that it now displays 'Repeat Pattern Off'. Counterintuitive I know! Then select the "Video Test Patterns" menu on right hand side and navigate from there. You should then find that the selected pattern will NOT jump to the next in sequence after a preset time which I think is what has been happening up till now.
