Is there a way to reset the timer for CRT tube and chassis on Marquee 9500LC after you replaced the tubes? I could not located it any where in the service menu. Thanks in advance.

I'm curious....Why would you want to do that? If you're going to keep the pj, and it being a top of the line CRT machine why wouldn't you then no biggie? But if you sell it later it's not really fair to the buyer to not see the actual total hours.

Just make a note with a Sharpie on the inside of the top cover or lens cover what the hours were/are at the time of tube change.

But to answer your question...yes there is a way. But I'm not able to reveal that in accordance with the Marquee Covenant laws. Rolling Eyes

Just to help me keeping track on the hours I have with the brand new tubes...I like everything to be 0 when the new tubes installed.

Seriously tho, there is a code to access that menu but MUCHO damage can be done to the pj; even rendering it useless, if played with. I peeked into that menu once but because of the dire consequences discussed in all the forums I didn't change a thing.
I'm not sure you'll find anyone who will give it to you and it isn't because they're mean, it's because of what I said can happen. Google a while and you'll find it. It used to be available on a Marquee owners website but I forget the name of it.

I'm just curious if there is a way - that's all. This 9500LC is not going anywhere; I've spent too much time and money on it, so it'll be with me until it can't be fixed.

Now you're making me feel bad. Embarassed Search around for it like I said and you'll find it on the net. Possibly in archived forums "somewhere"? Wink

I think I know the password, give me a minute to look it up and I'll send you a PM.

Be careful what you do in the (super secret) service menu or your Marquee may be on a trip to Curt shortly.

Thank you all, and Zebu in particular - I got your PM with the code. Since too much risk involves in this; I'll leave it alone, there is no need to mess around. It's not fun to pack it up and send it out considering dealing with 170 some lbs.

Good for you. I know how tantalizing it can be to have access to that new area. Laughing It was all I could do not to touch something. Rolling Eyes
BTW, nice pj you have. I have a fledgling (and foundering) savings account set up to upgrade to the 9500. One sad but good thing, (for me anyway) is that the going price for 9500's will most probably drop to meet my efforts halfway-ish at the rate I'm going.

Greg,

My 9500LC is actually the Vidikron Vision 1 with brand new Panasonic tubes - I'm telling you the 9500LC with the right mods is the best thing to HT. Period. I used to have a Sony G70 but compared to the ease of setting and the PQ on the 9500LC, it's a looong distance. I also have Marantz 12S4 which I think is the closest thing to CRT in black level but the DLP technology will probably never give you the movie theater experience as you have with the 9500LC. I'm waiting for Moome HDMI card (supposed to be shipped out next week) to use with my HD DVD and Blu-ray players and I think that will be icing on the cake for me. I can't wait for the card to get here and I hope he does not have any more delay but who knows what Moome will do...

I'm aware of 2 passwords for the marquee, the regular service menu, then another more advanced menu, but i've never seen the option to reset the hours. I'd be interested in this code if anyone wants to PM me, as I'm about to install my new LUGs

Earlier this week, I upgraded my Ultra with the newest firmware from VDC (V8.0) when I did this my hour meter got reset to 0. I don't mind as I am just trying to complete my initial setup on this projector and it has brand new LUGs.

It appears as though some of the options that were previously only available in the super secret service menu are now available in the regular service menu.

Chris,

A couple of questions for you:

How to do and upgrade for the firmware on the Ultra?
Does it require to buy new chip or anything to get the latest firmware?
Can it be used for Vision One?

Thanks,
An

U35 on the control board needs to be replaced to upgrade the firmware. You can order it from VDC for around $80.

Yes is should work on the Vision 1.

One more thing, what does the firmware upgrade improve on?

I'll try to get through all the menus today or tomorrow and note any changes.

A couple of thing I do remember seeing are "sub brite" controls for the red and blue tubes and "left keystone"

Not exactly sure what the "sub brite" control does, if I ramp it from min to max it appears to have the same function as the drive contol but with much less affect, I guess it could be used to fine tune the drive settings.

The "left keystone" does exactly what you would expect it to do. Using this in conjunction with regular keystone can help with geometry setup.

I seem to recall Draganm mentioned that while in the secret menu there was an option to narrow the lines in the convergence grids. Has anyone done this? If so was the result noticably better?

I think that was only an option with V2.0 firmware but I may be thinking of something else.
