Hi,

Just wanted to get the word out that now is the time to buy High Def media no matter which format you choose (or even if you own both.)

Fry's has several Blu Rays for $9.99 and also the Top Gun HD DVD for $9.99

Best Buy, Amazon, Circuit City, and FYE all have buy one get one free sales for Blu Ray and some similar deals for HD DVD.

I bought one of the Fry's Blu Rays for $9.99 and then 2 additional Blu Rays from Amazon for $12 each shipped.

It's a great time to buy Blu Rays and/or HD DVD's

Well, maybe for a few titles for a while, but certainly not all of them.

No Fry's near me. It's $13.50 for Top Gun from Fry's online. Not too bad, but not $9.99.

WTF... How'd you get that deal? I just pulled up Frys.com and when I added the Top Gun HD-DVD to my cart, it came up $13.50. Alright, still a good deal. Went to check out, and ground shipping is $6.32. That makes it about the same as Amazon's regular price with free super saver shipping. What up?

Sorry,.. I read it was $9.99 there.

One thing about the shipping though... It doesn't go up as you add more titles. I choose the slowest shipping and got my order overnight via DHL. It was $6.32 but that would have stay-ed the same if I bought more (I didn't know that but others verified it.)

Circuit City is having Buy One Get One free on all HD Media titles under $30. That's HD DVD or Blu Ray, and all titles.

There are two different deals at Frys. One is buy one get one free with a $19.99 regular price, and the other deal is two for $27 (a la $13.50). I reported this on Sunday, but I guess everyone missed that thread (or I'm on their ignore list).

Is the buy1/get1free deal available online? Two for $20 would still be a better deal than the $13.50 price (plus shipping). The two for $20 (plus $6.xx) for shipping would still be about $13-odd dollars/ea. I'd definitely buy a couple at that price.

It'll be fun to see Top Gun in high-quality HD. Does anybody know if it's been restored and cleaned? Whatever the HD version is that they ran on satellite (HDNetMovies I think it was) had a LOT of hairs, dirt, etc. in the transfer.

i have the stdDVD rerelease (special uber collecter widescreen thingy) released in 2004 and it's pretty clean. the scene where mavrick and goose are floating in the water under the choppers is pretty impressive looking. i can only imagine that the HD version is even better.

I went there, selected four titles, and no where is it showing anything but four titles that I am paying for. The shopping cart does not show any of the titles being free. What am I missing here?

When you proceed to checkout, it applies the promotion and halves the price.

I was going to get Pirates of the Cabbagepatch Dolls but from what I heard (accurate?) there was a framing issue in the released product. Anyone care to comment on this?
