I only have room for a dvd / vhs combo. it's for my kids room. a lot of kids movies are only available on vhs...

the tv is a Toshiba so I had a Toshiba SD-V593 that my wife came home with once I was done painting the kids room.... she was helping...

well it turns out that Toshiba knowingly put junk drives in these machines. they lock up and pause horribly a lot..

so I need a new one..
I would prefer Toshiba for remote reasons (wife and kids use it batteries are usually under the chair)
but I don't want another unusable piece of junk... I realize its a combo and junk...

any ideas???

thanks for the help...
John

I bought a Panasonic one for the kids for about $229, 18 months ago. It gets the crap kicked out of it and works fine. I don't think I've ever had a short term failure of anything Panasonic that I've had..

gotta agree with Curt. i bought a Panny vcr/dvd combo (PV-D4745S-K) for my ex at Christmas 2005 and as far as i've heard it still works great. of course i don't hear much of anything from her nowadays about anything Smile
