Laughing Nahhhh. It would be nice to get something like a G70 to play with but I was just using the reply as an opportunity to have a little fun.

I still believe he's gotten a slew of lurker PM's tho. Thumbs Up

Hi
Now that I have this higher end CRT The only thing I have to connect in to it is Composite, SVHS which does not really give me any "WOW, this is better than my entry level CRT" or Component which I cant seem to get working.
So it is true that the G70 Component BNC inputs dont work as they should because the G70 was made before they had the Component signal standard? or am I not selecting the right option in the menu.
Thanks

Bump

Congrats on the purchase. I've never had a Sony 70 or 90 but I'm sure someone who has will jump in and give you a hand.

I have a D50 which was before the G70 and the component inputs work fine. It must be a setting.

Your not using the right settings.
read the manual.
the G70 can run Y PrPb or RGBHV out of the crate or DVI or HDMI with the right input card.
There are MANY setup perameters with any High end CRT, and although I find the G series Sonys quite intuative, but they do take a bit to get your head around.....
If I where you, I would purchase Grahams Setup DVD that is avaliable to purchase here thru the 3rd party products, and have a look at how he sets up a 1292, you'll probably learn a lot....

It deserves to be set up properly

Hi
I did manage to get Component, I dont know how, I have an upscaling Player but the CRT wont let me put on anything above 480i.
As far as i know i have tried everything in the CRT menu.
This is what I have tried to get a HD signal from my HD Set Top Box.
I have connected a HD set top box capable of 1080i from its VGA output and set VGA out on the Box then with a VGA/BNC breakout cable connected to the 5 BNC of the CRT and selected RGB in its menu and the selected A under the Video button on the remote, Shouldn't that do it or is there something else to do.
I have gone through the manuals but haven't found the solution yet.
Thanks

This is what i have got so far.
I finally got Component working to accept whatever i give it by selecting the HDTV setting in the menu.
I still cannot get any thing to work when i give it a computer signal using the 5 BNC RGBHV inputs and selecting RGB in the menu.
I found someone in my area with a G70 and he has connected to his computer and i set up my settings the same as his but still no RGBHV.
With his G70 he can not get any Component signal to work only a RGBHV and I have the opposite problem.
The only differance between our G70s is the driver version number mine seems to be a newer number.
I did manage to get a RGBs signal into my G70 by selecting RGB in the menu and using a Laserdisc player that has a VGA output that outputs an RGBs signal, so that tells me that the top 4 BNC connecters must be working.
Could the bottom BNC be broken or maybe just a driver/firmware update?
Cheers

when you say you can't get it to 'work' are you getting anything displayed at all?
Whilst you're feeding it a signal, can you go into the service mode, and compile a list of all the settings? we might be able to trouble shot from that.

Sorry to sidetrack, but which model Laserdisk player came with VGA out?

Are you sure you have the right VGA -> RGBHV cable?

Yeah, I'm wondering too - what laser disc player has VGA outputs? I'm aware that a few earlier models had a computer connection for reasons I never understood, but I don't believe you could get video out of it.

Hi
Before i connect anything i have to select RGB in the G70 menu because once the computer, Set Top box w/ VGA out, DVD player w/VGA out is connected i cant get in to the menu, it flickers on for a second and then off then on but i dont get any pic at all from the device just a black screen.

The Pioneer LDV 4300D has a 9 pin VGA that puts out an RGBs signal.
