After having all the issues with the HDFury not playing nice with my Denon 3808ci, I picked up the VisionFC4 which I believe is made by Cypress Semiconductor and marketed under a couple different names...
$160 shipping included off of the 'Bay.
It is a sturdy little metal box that has an HDMI connector and a DC input jack on one side and an HD-15 connector and a 1/8" audio jack on the other. There is also a switch that switches the HD-15 between RGBHV and Component Output.
The one I bought also came with an HD-15 to component cable, a power supply, and a crappy 1/8" to 2xRCA cable.
Plugged it in, fired up King Kong on HD-DVD @ 1080i and bingo! FINALLY my Denon comes alive in breathtaking HD!
I haven't played around with it yet, but so far, I'm really impressed. The picture is at least equal to the HDFury, and for anybody like me who was having issues with the DVI nature of the HDFury, well this is an option for you.
Conflicting reports on whether it does 1080p or not, I don't know as I don't have a 1080p display available to test. But so far, so good. I'll post some screenshots if anybody is interested.

Be aware, i also bought this just to see what it is, and the image it provides is extremely soft. There is a huge output filter on the VGA-out soldered on the print, which probably causes this. Not only visible on big screens, but the softness was also very noticable on a 17" TFT monitor. IMHO the VisionF4 is practically unusable for HD purposes.

Hmm...
Strange, I am not seeing any softness whatsoever. What resolution are you using?

Ok, my bad, my box was the VisionFC3, not the FC4...

The word on the street (ie: here and AVS) is that both versions have a pretty bad floating black level (pedistal) and that they only do SD colour space (not HD) so your colour will be off. The earlier version is also very soft.
All this is fine if you're just using it for gaming on a smallish computer monitor (the intended purpose of the devices). They weren't designed with HT in mind.
But hey, if it plays nicely with your Denon that's all that matters I suppose!
