When I set up my Marquee 8500, I had an occasional blanking out of the image, and an occasional diagonal "ripping" of the image, somewhat like you used to see on the beginning of "The Outer Limits". With a great deal of assistance from Kim at Crescendo, the problem is now resolved. Apparently, the Crescendo RTC2200 uses marginally more negative rail power in the process of feeding the gamma adjustment capability than its predecessor the RTC2000. This has the effect, over time, of reducing the power margin used to generate the negative sync signals. Add to this a Marquee 8500 that is apparently more sensitive to the quality of the negative sync signals than, for instance, a Sony 1272 that I previously owned. Kim experimented and suggested I try positive sync instead of the default negative sync from the RTC2200. It works just fine.

I am writing this for two purposes. First, to inform any other Marquee 8500 users with RTC2200 units that there is simple solution to the issue, but more importantly, to express my thanks to Kim for so quickly addressing my observations and coming up with a simple solution. I opted for his product, in part, from the positive comments on the forum about his units, and very positive comments about his customer focus. My hat is off to Kim. I judge suppliers not just by their product, or by the problems that might pop up, but by their willingness to listen to the customer and to focus on solutions. Kim does just that.

We have all read the endless heated comments from angry customers about this a**hole or that. I for one am very glad there are folks like Kim and Curt and Tim and the many others that make this hobby what it usually is: an affordable and enjoyable experience. Let's here about them instead, and leave the few bad apples out in the silent cold where they belong.

Wow, I've been suffering this problem intermittently with my crappy Comcast cable box + RTC2200 and 9500LC for about 6 months now. It's gotten very bad recently, though, which spurred me to buy an Extron 202rxi in hopes it would clean up the sync and fix the problem. It hasn't arrived yet, but I found this thread and switched my RTC2200 to positive sync - it works like a charm!! I can't say how happy I am to watch the basketball games without epilepsy inducing sync loss Mr. Green

Kal - How about putting this in the RTC2200 FAQ, and maybe on the Marquee troubleshooting/tips?
