Hi

In my search for a second 1209s unit, I have a serious offer on a pair of BR 812 mint tubes, qround 4000 hours.... I just know they are basically 808 with 12 tubes. I just thought this could be some kind of blending material Shocked 500 ansi
This would be a complete turn around of my stack project but...
What do you think?????

Also, I do not know if corrected C elements exist for them.
Could I improve them with MP mods?
May be stupid question Possible to connect them with the 1209s electronic?

This makes me dizzy Wink

Romain

I really know nothing about them but just make sure that they use standard Barco electronics, whether 808, 1208, 1209, etc. So that you have spares if they break. Also be prepared to find the nearest tall ledge if you somehow bust a tube Shocked

Yep I know...
Apparently I could buy some spare tubes too and yes I can use 808 parts no problem says the seller ( and I trust him, he is good)

Nice stuff! I was offered the same projector on another forum. I have never seen one, but you better make sure that this projector is suited for your situation. It may actually be less sharp than a single 1209s (because it was built solely for more light output and also because the larger the lenses get, the harder it is to maintain a good sharpness.) In case you've missed it: the lenses are as large as a bucket and the thing is at least one metre wide! Also, do you know what is the sweetspot of the projector? Maybe at 1080p the scanlines are as distracting as 480p on my BarcoReality 909.

But it's cool indeed! Let us know how it works out when you have bought it (them?)

Hello Peter thx for the infos.
I don't think I will buy them... but I am sure you understand, I only have seen these monster in photos and would never think I'd had one day the opportunity to acquire them. They look like war machines you know... In fact if I understand well, such huge phosphor areas wouldn't give more precision. Or they could in theory but the quality of optics isn't there...

This for sure is one of them (from the for sale topic on the other forum where the same pair of 812's was offered)

Also note the poor hand cart: it's almost collapsing Smile

the 812 will most likely be softer than a 1209. All it offers is insane brightness

It's the later 912 that was a major step in the right direction (it's based on the 909 electronics iirc).
