Agreed, Dave. Furthermore I think that Curt has got all the 3 qualities you listed in your last post.
I also think that Curt gets a lot of the business because of those 3 qualities, in addition to the fact that he is THE most knowledgable expert in the market of CRTs.
Cheers!

simple curt do him like you did me no refunds for used equoiement even when it doesn,t work properly like the panny-1085 you sold me and is collecting dust in storage ......................... |
Oops, missed a bunch of posts while I was out of town.
# 1, it's a PT 105, not a 1085, and as I said, bring the set back and I have no problems working on it... under warranty. You can't expect me to cover shipping on a $350 USD projector...

A common complaint from the ladies as well. Damn this old age..
The last check is dated for tomorrow, and as luck would have it, I'm out of town. I've given my bookkeeper the check to get certified, which isn't a for sure thing, but if she goes to his bank, they will tell her if there's a stop payment on the check. If there is, I'll go over next week with my part time installer, and will pull out the projector, screen and part of the audio system. That will cover travel time and ferry expenses. I'll never deal with him regardless.
A couple of points that I thought of since posting this:
1) The customer said that he would send me a couple of screen shots of the test grid and pix to see what's going on with the set. I'm sure it's fine, but who knows, maybe there's a glitch in it. Considering though the complaint ranged originally 2 weeks ago from no pix to a dim pix to a crooked pix, I think he's full of crap. I think the pub isn't doing well, it's somewhat of a remote location where it's at, and he simply wants to save money by me taking the set back.
2) If the set was no good since I put it in, why did he sent me two postdated checks for the full amount on Sept 7? That's almost 90 days after the install was completed, and the 'unsatisfactory' projector somehow only became so between Sept 8 and Sept 12 when he called me to complain. Go figure.

you wouldn,t have that problem if the pj was up to snuff before you sent it out now you exspect me to pickup the freight bothways on this boat anchor which is not right

Walter, we've been through this before. THe set worked fine for about 48 hours before I sent it up. I also told you up front that I had NO spare parts for the unit, and you didn't want to spend a bit more money for something like an ECP that I could support remotely.
I was offering to pick the set up if I was coming to Penticton, but that didn't happen this year as expected.
So as with anything that you buy new from the store, let alone something that's 18+ years old and used, you need to take it back to the dealer for servicing.

curt check your e-mails i was dissatisfied right from day one with this panny and you admitted that some of the controls never worked at all so whats the sense in sending the pj when there is no pincushion control and it keystones so badly that the pic is unwatchable?

Some of the controls will not work depending on whether you're using video or RGB as indicated on the unit. NO question that the Panny is harder to set up than the Sony 12XX that you last had, but every control did work on the set, I wouldn't send a set out that I knew had problems with it, no matter if it's a $200 or $10,000 set. I had the unit preset here for your screenb size, and as I said, I ran it for 2 days off and on to make sure it was stable. Get the set to me and I'll repair it or retweak it.

the controls don,t work at all never mind in video or rgb your assertion that all the controls worked is patent nonsense , the pj as it sits right now and when i got it from you is useless to say i,m not a happy camper would be the understatement of the century.........

OK, you're the expert Walter.
I can't do anything for you unless I see the set. That's where we've been at for the last 6 months or so.
I will add this though. There are 4 or 5 unmarked pots on the convergence board. If you tweaked those while setting the unit up, that will completely destroy the actions of the convergence controls, and might explain why the key and pin don't work. I tweaked those when I first got the set because the manual wasn't handy at the time. It took me about 4 hours to realign those pots with a scope and meter and the service manual due to my own adjustment happy pot tweaking. The pots were realigned to spec though as per the s/manual, and all relevant convergence pots worked as they were supposed to.

I'd be willing to bet it the customer is OCCASIONALLY right, but I tend to be optimistic.

Only someone suggesting we are to believe Curt is not customer focused would insist they are entitled to privacy when airing complaints in a public forum. But, let me publicly thank you for providing a few amusing moments in any regard.
