OliverQ,
My aplologies if for some reason this is an underground mission.
Can you tell us more about your blend project & unusual 2.35 Torus screen?

The G90s? Vision 1?
My freight company contacted me today and told me that they have contacted the sellers and will be picking them all up Thursday (today). Once they arrive, I will take some photos. The best thing is, the first guy who I bought the $3200 G90 off turned out to be 'called away on urgent business and did not have a laptop'. So that's coming as well.
I'm not counting my chickens until they are all hatched and sitting in the poacher
Kind regards

No lethal injection.
I heard your screen plans & it sounded unlike any project I have heard of here in the past.
How is it going?
What processing do you plan on using to achieve a blend or is this a stack?

Hi Nomad - you said "no lethal injection" - I'm still not sure if you are asking me? I haven't heard of an oliverQ!
As far as my blend/stack - I am trying to get Pixel Magic to implement blending on their Crystalio 2 VP - it really is the duck's nuts of VPs and IMHO out-performs alot of high end Tennerex machines. I can use the C2 to blend as it has two concurrent HDMI outputs which I feed into two HDFurys -> projector. Easy.
I don't know anything about the Torus screen implementation. Sorry. AFAIK it involves curved screens and specially modded projectors. It might actually be something interesting to try out one day, that's for sure!
Kind regards

I find this interesting... I'm assuming you have actually seen a Terranex video computer in action to make this comparison? The Terranex computers seem to have much more processing power, what aspect/s did the CII perfrom better? I honestly wasn't that impressed with the CII, seemed to perform similar to the VP50, so I've been holding out to hear reviews on the Radiance Pro's.

Saw a whole array of them at Channel 9 being evaluated. I didn't ask in what capacity at the time - it could be for when SD broadcasts are being upscaled to HD. I only saw the results on small monitors, not on anything large scale viewing wise.
Moore's law, there are many applications now that can be effective on single chips / chipsets that used to require much more horsepower - per pixel motion adaptive processing is one of those. The original Teranex machines back in the early 80s did HQV, even then. The array I saw at Channel 9 were all smaller than the 'Xantus' - they could have been 'minis' - this was back in 2003. Every year, something which is considered 'broadcast quality' can be found in pro-sumer then consumer grade equipment very quickly - the C2 is one of these types of machines.
The VP50 is a great processor, I had one before the C2. I didn't even get the C2 to replace the VP50, I got it to resell. I had a Calibre as well. I sold them both - as the C2 does BOTH displays at once - no need for seperate processors.
I guarantee you, if you played around with the C2 a little bit more you would sell your VP50 - guaranteed. The person I bought the C2 off had a beta Radiance and tells me it is actually no different to the C2. He can't see any improvement - that's not to say that others wont but this guy is a connoisseur and what he says has some impact on me. As he put it too, the C2 is now a mature product - at firmware revision 2.08. His Radiance is apparently full of bugs - do you really want to be a beta tester?
The C2 is a tweakers dream - but not so many twaaks as to be overwhelming. Out of the box, it might look no different to the VP50, but if you get into the C2's features (Like dynamic VP) ... you can swap from VXP to Faroudja DCDi with a button press. The VXP noise reduction is really something - I don't like using most noise rudction - but you have a choice of 3 different types, Faroudja/VXP/3dMR. The list goes on. Don't get me started on the gamma controls ...!
Anyway, each to their own. You do live in Queensland after all
Kind regards

Hi John - here's my thread in PMS's forum about getting the 3800 to start doing edge blending:
http://www.pixelmagicforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2858
Right now, its a pipe dream - but I am confident!!!!
I'm hoping that it is simply a firmware update - as the way HDMI is currently implemented, there can be 2 discrete inputs AND 2 discrete outputs.
I'm also hoping this alone will mean I wont have to buy another 3800. If push comes to shove, I'd get two Radiance(s) to do edgeblending and (reluctantly) sell my C2.

What is the time frame on the Radiance Blending.

The latest from Pixel Magic re: Crystalio 2
We are working on a simple blending solution in C2. But please be reminded that all solutions require two C2, because a single C2 can't output two different videos. That's the hardware limitation.
Jason
As for the Radiance - I heard 3rd to 4th quarter 2007 which is now (IIRC)

Yikes!
A pair of c2's @ 3999.00 per??? There goes the idea of blending on the cheap..... but 8k vs 17 k is cheap

They are coming down. I paid only $2700 for my C2. There is one on AVS for $3499 right now. If I knew 100% that say, next month - the C2 would have blending, I would buy another now. Around 5k is a much better deal PLUS if you got a VP solution as good as the C@, that's worth the money alone.
I looked into the C2-260s again - they really are a great little card. For $1200 (pair) you could feed both outputs of your C2 into a pair of C2-260s wtih 2 HDFurys and that would give you a blendzone.
Right now, I can wait until all solutions come down in price.

Where did you find them for $1200 a pair?

Viscount Video - but you have to email them and them you've seen it for cheaper elsewhere. I think the list price is $707 IIRC
Damn cheap. Also, I think these boards are several revisions more mature than the first lot that were made. MadMrH has been working with TVOne directly and they have been listening to him.
