|
|
I have had an ad on Milwaukee Craigslist for a while for a projector, and a guy just emailed me saying he has two "really nice" Marquee 8000's for sale, both for $850. Obviously I haven't seen them yet, but is this a good deal if they turn out to be in good shape? Would one of these (just don't have room for two) be better than my PG Xtra?
Thanks in advance!
Will

If they're Marquee 8000's and the tubes are REALLY nice then I would offer hime $600. for the pair. If the tubes are worn then no, the 8000 is really old (production stopped in 1995) and I wouldn't bother with them. If It was me I would only buy them with really nice tubes and even then I would hire someone to swap those tubes into a newer Marquee 8500 with all the necessary mods done to it. Then, you would have a machine that would justify further improvements down the road like a Moome DVI card, MP modded video chain, etc.

Thanks for the input. I'll just pass on the whole thing. No use spending money on something that's not worth anything

they would be a great platform for beginners to get into the game. They are worth checking out. IMHO. if the tubes are good, I have an 8500 chassis here that needs some.
