|
|
All, i know i am asking quite a bit on this post so I apologize up front.
I installed a Sony 1272Q projector a few years ago and since I am doing
bulb maintenance I thought it would be a great time to fine tune the
set up while I have it apart
First I was wondering if anyone could help me understand how I can
increase my projected image throw. As is i have had the rasters maxed
out and have about 6" in either side of my screen that is not getting
picture.
Second, i would like to take full advantage of my phosphor from the bulbs.
I noticed replacing the previous bulbs I have Trapezoidal burn in on the
blue bulb. The image also shows that my setup because of the distances
and angle of my setup is using a lot of keystone and wanted to get around
this somehow.
Third, when replacing the bulbs so I need to rotate the yoke on the tube to
level the image. I am seeing that the light from the bulbs without a signal
are somewhat skewed.
Is it possible to use spacers and or less toe in to accomplish what I want
to do, if so how would i do this. My specs are:
projector angle from horizontal is pointing 9deg down
front of projector distance from screen is 92"
screen size is 46"x84"x96"diag
projector height to center of lens from floor is 100"
screen top from floor is 85"
See the attached images for reference.
Appreciate any help and guidance from the CRT forum.
Thanks much.
Les

| You need to move projector further back.

Moving projector back also compensate need to tilt projector, so it helps little. But probably not as much you like...
Or if you like there is no keystone at all, you need to tilt projector up (ceiling mounted) about 10-14 degree depending about projector. That would mean that lenses should be in center of the screen vertically.

That's interesting...are those extra connection points on the HV splitter?

What is/was their intended use when the pj was designed?

The splitter on my G70 has the extra connectors; and needless to say I don't drink coffee anymore and can still get through my day just fine

I quit drinking coffee too. Turned out to be a bad choice tho....bourbon is SOOOOO much more expensive! And you drink alone at work in the cafeteria so that sucks too. My doc doesn't totally agree with my choice but I have a bad heart and my liver is fine so he's going along with it.

Greg, that has to be one of the funniest things I've read in ages. I'm not sure why, but I just absolutely BUSTED out laughing when I read the bit about your liver being fine and heart bad so switching to bourbon was fine.
I wanted to read your post to my wife just now, but couldn't remember what thread it was in. I even thought it might have been on avsforum, so I did a search on 'bourbon' there. It came back with the blendzilla thread. Hmm...

Ile,
Cant move the projector so Im looking for creative ways to massage the mechanics of the projector to increase the image throw. Can you tell me if increasing or decreasing the spacers between the tube and lens will increase the projected image. How will changing the toe-in effect the image. I have read through the spacer link before and need more details.
Thanks
Les

Les | Increasing spacers between lens and tube affect only how lenses focus, that is basically what you are doing when you adjust center focus knop. Same thing with toe-in, but it affect only to one corner or two corner focus.
Shorter throw lenses like HD144 might help enough, but those aren't straight swap you need adapters.
Diy or like these

Usyally people are swapping color filtered HD144, but you already have colored glycols (?) so you are fine with cheaper non filtered version.
