Actually, this one was a surprise. The person who I just bought the G90 off - I told him how I had been ripped off 3200 by the last seller on Videogon. Imagine my surprise when he told me he had a Vision 1, factory refurbished .. still in its wrapping that I could have for free - as long as I paid for the shipping.. My jaw hit the floor.
Oliverthis makes no sense at all. Firs tthe guys lists a G90 for $2500. to the first person who contacts hime. Then renegs because someone offered him more money. Now, he gives away a projector that he could have easilly sold for $5000.? I don't get it, something is really wrong with this story.

you've been gone for a long time, Art's G90 stack is no more. Replaced it some DLP that costs $50K. A lot of us here are convinced he went off the deep end with this one. Wink

Dragan,

I think that he bought a 2nd, alternate G90 after the first $3200.00 offering fell through. 2nd guy also had a Vision 1.

Do I have this understood correctly?

Seller 1 (the $3200.00 guy) may have had a duplicitous conspirator. Never publicly gloat until you have tracking #'s or someone may alter your plans. Sad to say , but true.

Oliver got scammed on the first G90 and now has put himself in a very delicate position with a 2nd G90 and a Vidikron that smells very heavy of another scam. I'm crossing fingers on both hands and all 15 toes that this works well for him!

Regarding the Vidikron, the previous info is not 100% correct. There are many Vidikron out there that were extensively modified by CS for Vidikron. If you come across a Vision One X... pay out the nose and run fast!

I was acting service manager for the outfit here that fired CS; the game plan was to add dozens of tantalum capacitors everywhere, the improvement was unremarkable, the soldering was horrific....

Yes I paid $3200 to one person who stopped replying to me after I paid him. I have since found out that he is in the habit of doing this. I contacted all the buyers on ebay, audiogon etc who gave me as much information as they could. My cousin (a senior FBI agent in Hawaii) took all the details and forwarded it to the IC3 (part of the FBI) who are now chasing him. As he has done this to several people, he is now guilty of fraud and will be punished accordingly. The FBI have all the traceroute information, so they have contacted his ISP, PayPal and eBay. I wouldn't want to be this guy when they catch up with him.

TO answer all the questions about the 2nd seller, I have the second seller's home number, his cell, his first business (a large packing company) his second business (a 12 story hotel in Virginia). I have spoken to his wife, his general manager @ the hotel (after being relayed on hold via 3 others) and the receptionist at his packing company. I assure you, the guy is 'for real' Not only this, but I paid the GM of his hotel and my bank statement's (credit card) entry reflects the correct name Smile We're talking a very large hotel chain here. He gave me the option of paying via PayPal, but whilst his PP account was created in 2000, he only had a single transaction on it. So I opted the hotel route knowing I could chargeback anyway.

He was quite unfortunate that he happened into the tail end of me venting about the first $3200 loss and his MO appeared very similar to the first guy. I had intended to 'bait' him and get more information for the authorities, but it quickly became apparent that he was 'for real'. Because I gave him the benefit of the doubt and because I had already been ripped off, he was kind enough to offer me the Vidikron unit. Who am I to argue? I will pay him back, in my own way. He is in for a very nice surprise in the future Smile

At the very least, if the second guy DOES turn out to be the first guy reincarnated 'virtually', I now have a lot more information to give to the FBI and I can do a chargeback via my creditcard company.

Futhermore, he has continued to stay in communication with me - a fraudster would have vanished by now. He has offered so much help - he also is going to liase (hopefully with EmDawg (John E) ) so he can pack them and assist the freight company.

I am 99.9% sure the second seller is genuine.

By the way, I am aiming to have 2 G90s and 2 Vidikron Vision 1s (or at least a 9500LC Ultra) and will be blending AND stacking them. This will be for a A/B comparison so we can do a shootout. Of course, the two V1s will be modded by our Mike Parker beforehand.

I will invite members of the forums to visit for a weekend when this happens - free accomodation, food and alcohol provided. Smile

Kind regards

PS I want to thank everyone for their support - you know who you are Wink Much appreciated.

Well shoot, let me know if you want to sell the Vidikron! I'm in the market for something with low hours and a recent chassis build date! Smile

Thanks Eddie Smile

I've already given Curt first dibs if I dont want to keep it. He did make the first bid on the G90. I gave him the option of buying it off me for the same price, but it was too much of an unknown for him. So, we made a deal - if I don't like the V1 he can have it for a song.

But if he isn't in the market at the time, I'll be sure to be in contact.

Kind regards

The guy on ebay wants $15K for his, or he says the "real owner" will reneg on the auction. The lister is just the broker. I tried to tell him about todays prices, but...

Is this the 9500LC Ultra with 300 odd hours on it?

Why are people bidding on it so early? I don't understand the logic

Yep. I don't like the fact that it does not have plastic sleeving on the h/v lines also. That does not match up with what it's supposed to be, unless it's been retubed with old shelf tubes from the early years. And that is an awful lot of dust in there for a 300 hour chassis. Typically it's the fans the stuck in outside air that contaminate a chassis interior so quickly. But this one has more dust than I would think for a "300" hour chassis. Rolling Eyes Just something to keep in mind.

Who knows why bidders act like that?!?
I always wait till the last second.
I bet Dragan understands the logic. I love it when he bids on my stuff. Very Happy

Dragan. Thumbs Up

I have seen 2 stacked G90 setups and multiple marquee blends... so I'd be happy to help with your comparison Smile As mentioned before, both throw great pictures and offer their own advantages.

Of course you'll need to make the trip up north and critique my blend too Wink

Yup, he canceled the auction a day before it was due to close. Sad

That was an "Accurate Imaging" 9" machine, based on a VDC (not e-home or christie digital) Ultra 9500LC and built in 2002 or 2003. It supposedly had about $1000 worth of high end capacitors added to it by Chris Stephens and a bunch of other stuff, including an HD-SDI "digital" Rolling Eyes input card. This is the one that Jaehong Lee talks about in his 9500LC mod thread.

Here's the website for more info:

http://web.archive.org/web/20021123061036/http://ait-online.com/

Other stuff:

http://www.avrev.com/news/0203/04.accurate.shtml

Quote:
The Ultimate 9-X - the company's flagship CRT-based projector, featuring nine-inch tubes and an extensive series of image enhancements. The suggested retail price is $75,000.

http://www.avrev.com/news/0102/07.accurateit.shtml

I spent two hours on the Internet last night researching the body shell on this thing to find out what it was and when I discovered it was an Accurate Imaging machine and what exactly that was... I was psyched! I wanted it! Razz

But it's gone now. Mad
