TV/Projector: All of them!

OK, so it's not exactly Cliff's setup or Art's for that matter, but here's what I literally threw together today. I spent maybe 3 hours converging and focusing, and dammmmnnnnnnn it look sweet! (despite the pictures)

Cliffy, what the hell have you done to me? How can I go back to a single projector now? Shocked

Despite the ghetto looking setup, this image is the second best I've seen. Cliff's was first, and I'm telling you, what little loss of sharpness I see here is more than made up by the 1080i signal being fed by the HD DVD player. This blows a single projector with a decent scaler/regular DVD player away.

I'll be running 1080p once I get a few more bits and pieces, but for now this is 1080i out of the HDMI output, into the HDFury, into an active RGB splitter to two slightly mismatched 9500s. One is an Ultra with HFQ 900 lenses on it, MP mods, Frankenyokes and super mint tubes, the other is my stock one on the ceiling.

No question that the modded Ultra is sharper, you can see that clear as day, but combined it's the PUNCH that is jaw dropping. I know what I'm doing tonight. I'm getting the damn popcorn out!

over/under huh? it's cool to stack but I couldn't live with A marquee in the middle of my room. Don't bother trying side by side, it doesn't work for stacking, only blending.

You can't on some titles (like KK).

Is that new carpet? Are you going to try to goth everything?

No, everything will get gutted in the room eventually. Truth be told, one projector is fine, but I'll stack if I have two in stock.

I do want darker carpeting, walls, room treatment, blah blah, but as you can see, I haven't done much to the room..

Very nice. It would appear the VHS Tomb (oak shelving) everyone was complaining about before disappeared. Wink

Oh, I guarantee he is HOOKED now.

There is nothing like 2 CRT projectors doubling your light output AND your ON/OFF CR. Twisted Evil

I had Zaphod come over tonight to check it out. I realized that after we watched the system for an hour or so that the projectors were completely unbalanced the Ultra was set to maybe 70% output, the ceiling one to 30-ish percent. Still, this thing kicks a$$.

Line up people, I have a number of RGB active splitters and minty 8" sets to compliment the one you already have..Smile

Why not side by side with a marquee? the Sony guys can do it? If it is lack of keystone feature for side by side i thought there was a soft ware upgrade that has that feature?

I think what he meant was don't try to do a "stacked image" with the projectors mounted side-by-side.

I remember that Tim (in Pheonix) tried this and ran out of adjustment on keystone (I think) when he tried to stack two 9500's side by side.

It was fiendishly difficult to align, and one runs out of H linearity range first.

maybe there is a mod that can be done to get this range extended, just like in the anamorph mod? Is it possible?
