Wow, I completely ignored this thread. Smile Oops!

Just a couple of questions regarding the audio.

THe HPS 4000 website seems really out of date. BGW was sold in 2003 to another amplifier company, and looking at the BGW site, the links there don't work, so I'm assuming BGW amps are no longer being used?

What about speakers (and no, I skimmed the first and last pages, if it's covered, tell me to shut up and go read. Very Happy). His speakers appear to be Klipsch based. Is that still the case?

Thanks!

I don't know about the amps, Curt, but I think the speakers are the HPS4000 series you must have looked at already. Yes, the web site sucks... They need somebody to do some nice photography and build a decent site, but if the product is good, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Looking at the PDF I made from Arnold's TIFFs (page 3 of the thread), I think these are his mains:
http://www.hps4000.com/pages/6chxl_.html

Essentially this, but with only one of those sub stacks, instead of the two pictured:

If I understand the schematic (in the PDF) correctly, there are (3) 545-4's, which include a 545W in each, plus (4) 545.5's, for a total of (10) 15" subs.

Interesting, Tom... The HPS page you linked to before:
http://www.hps4000.com/pages/speak_index_.html

Had the ATI name/address/phone on it. Now, I knew ATI made Outlaw's amps, but googling the address also turned up Theta Digital at that address. So, we've got ATI, Outlaw, BGW, and Theta Digital amps all being made by ATI?

BTW, the ATI 3007 is my dream amplifier.

I deleted a post as the link seemed to be incorrect. Have you had a chance to listen to the ATI 3007 ?

The room is too wide for my camera lens, but this gives you an idea.

It seems these companies do not pay much attention to keeping their web sites updated. The special BGW amps are still being made for John Allen, and they're on-site waiting for the projection room to be finished.

I think the speakers had their genesis with Klipsch. Although the folded horn design is quite similar, my understanding is that the drivers, crossover networks, etc. are a good deal different.

As with most projects, how systems are designed and implemented really tells the story. John will not allow more than a fraction of an inch deviation from his speaker placement/aiming calculations. We see the result from meticulous alignment/calibration of video equipment. I have to believe the same holds true for audio systems as well.

Arthur,
What years are you including in your arcade? It looks like up to the '70s.

You are correct. The arcade is all electro-mechanical with ONE exception, a "Computer Space" - the very first video game (because I used to own one).

Computer Space is a video arcade game released in November 1971 by Nutting Associates. Created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, who would both later found Atari, it is generally accepted that it was the world's first commercially sold coin-operated video game — and indeed, the first commercially sold video game of any kind, predating the Magnavox Odyssey by six months, and Atari's Pong by one year.

After seeing that the video games that were replacing EM games were "stupid" to me, I stopped collecting at that time.

My current collection spans from 1904 to 1973. The mean vintage is probably 1963 or so. In the posted picture, there are games from:

Allied Leisure (1972):

1937 Rockola "World Series":

1940 "Air Defense":

1946 Bally "Undersea raider"

1946 "Atomic Bomber"

The system has not been installed yet. The prices are dropping too fast to buy now.

The installer said I can fit 17.1 KW in the space.

To figure out how much average sunlight you have available in your area click here for a handy program from the NREL site...

Interesting stuff !
