It will be flat. I wanted to use the Stewart Micro-Perf but it cannot be made for the needed dimensions. I'm still working on a substitute. |
The SmX screen is incredible... IMHO, much nicer than all of the Stewart screens that I've seen... both in screen performance, acoustic perforations, frame stucture, velvet trim fabric, and build quality.

http://www.smxscreen.com/pro-line-frame.html
Cliff has the material.
Wm Kosmann has the screen plus frame.
Too expensive for most of us, but I predict you'll have the opposite reaction... it'll seem too inexpensive if you're used to Stewart.

Oops... I just noticed that I'm logged in on Pete's account, but this is Clarence... I'm visiting Pete this weekend. He's literally doing a photo shoot with some models right now.
Anyways, it looks like 24' is the max width for SmX, not 28' as mentioned for your HT.
But call Ruben and he might have options or suggestions for 28'.

The 28' width has not been the problem for most suppliers, it's the height requirement that is greater than what the perf machines can handle, and I DON'T want to do a splice! I need about 16.5' in height to accommodate the viewing area and hanging grommets.

Traditional commercial Movie theater screens can't/won't accommodate this?

Most commercial screens have vertical splices in them.

The truth has been spoken... Now I will never enjoy a "commercial movie theater" again.
Thanks a lot... 8)

It should be awhile before completion. If Arnold decides he would like an HT meet I'm sure he will let us know. Just looking forward to any progress reports and photos.

"Equipment
- ADA, Other
- Lutron, Other
- Sony, Other"
Clearly high praise for those manufacturers. Now I just need to decide which of the three of them I should choose to supply my Other...

Sorry about that - Things have been VERY busy for me the last few months. The house project has been concentrating on the exact opposite side of the building (I know...where are the architects priorities???) where the mechanical music and arcade stuff is going. The off-site storage space I was using got rented and there is a massive push to get those areas ready to receive those items in time.
I finally got a few moments to send along some progress photos of the work to date.
