I will be in Hartford for a wedding Sep 23, 24 and 25th. If you need another set of eyes I might be able to sneak away for a few hours.

I am happy to report that as of 30 minutes ago, the HT project is FINALLY finished, as well as my business project that had consumed most of my time...

Congrats and I would love to see it some time.
I hate to say it and I know you are committed to the light valve, but if I were to own a pj for this theater it would be the JVC 4k.

Congratulations, Arnold!!! What an awesome accomplishment... I'm sure you'll get years of use and enjoyment from it. It must feel really great to have both things off your plate!
Spanky... I think he'd need to stack a couple of those JVC's... Arnold's screen is a lot bigger than the screen we saw at CEDIA, I think. Maybe not. Arnold, how big is your screen?
4K would be awesome, though... Especially if there's ever content available for it.
Thanks,
SC

I'm only "committed" to the light valve for the moment. It allowed me to get everything operational for pennies on the dollar so it was too good to pass up. The 12K was always intended as a stop-gap projector until the 4k units substantially dropped in price. Having said that, I am quite pleased with the 12K screen image as to brightness, colorimetry, and resolution.
I thought we had a couple of "reviewers" lined up to do a report, but things apparently fell through. I'll see if I can get another session planned.

The screen is 26' wide by 14.6' high. The original design (and existing capability) called for a 28' wide screen with a 6" black border on all sides, but Stewart could not build a microperf that large. As a result, we were limited to 26' wide and I increased the black border size to 18" all around. If some day a 28' screen becomes available, I just need to replace the 18" borders with a 6" border to install it.
I think we are getting about 22 foot lamberts off the screen.

You know you will find something else to add to it. It's the nature of the beast

LOL, I think you will be waiting another couple of years. The JVC is $175k. I don't believe Crabb or I got the feeling that it would be coming down any time soon. It does look incredible though.

You might want to check with Ruben at SMX. I think he said that his new 4k screen material can be done in almost any size now. His new material was probably the first time that I have thought that I could live with an AT screen and not miss a solid screen.

That goes without saying!
I was actually talking about the "shell" itself. Besides, I'm already trying to figure out when I can get the first Super Hi-Vision gear...

I hope you have watched a movie or two. Keep me posted as things will settle in but fine tuning now is quite easy.

Arnold, don't sell that 12K short . It really does make a great picture. I see alot of 4K units and there buy no means perfect.

Leo,
That may be true regarding the 4ks. I think blu ray looks pretty good, but native 4k content looks incredible. Are you looking at the JVCs or the Sonys? I have heard a lot of negative things about the Sonys.

I figured he had seen a 4k, but the most available model is the Sony. The JVC isn't widely available and there is not a lot 4k content out there.
