I'm sure you've done your homework well. Well enough to know that many forms of "green" are not practical in the NE.
That hasn't stopped many from trying to capitolize on it though.
The reverse hydro-coil idea was only a quick thought. Dumping the heat from the projector into the theater is probably the most efficient use of the heat.
Do your self a favor. Don't suck the heat out of the projector with the return from the air handler. That puts neg pressure on the case of the projector. Every switch, knob and seam will get caked with dust. Pressurize the cabinet and push the heat out with filtered air. The inside of the projector will stay clean as new that way. In fact if this were my project, I would consider not connecting it directly to the HVAC system. If there was room to hide the ductwork, I'd put a 20X20 return filter grate down near the floor of the theater with a boot to change it to 12" round duct with a duct booster between the filter and projector. Then I'd go 12" out to a non-filtered supply grate near the theaters ceiling and dump the heat directly into the theater where the HVAC returns can pick it up and distribute it around.
This is how I now cool my 2nd equipment rack. The first rack full of equipment was ruined by heat as I tried sucking the heat out and every air leak (switches, knobs and such) acted like a filter and quickly clogged with dust and overheated equipment. Pushing the heat out completely solved the problem.

Hello Chip,
Fortunately, in this case (no pun intended) the manufacturer thought ahead, and included filtered blowers to pressurize the assemblies. One of the filters is visible in the picture I had previously posted, and the main cabinet has several more. The manual offers two different methods for pulling the heat from the projector: either direct (passive) 10" duct connection to the top of the lamp cabinet, or suspending a hood 2.5 inches above the cabinet connected to an in-line blower. The later (recommended method) is what I went with.
To equalize the air pressures, the waste heat blower is offset with an equal amount of makeup air. This is separate and distinct from the booth air handler which has it's own balanced supply and return ducts.

The "indirect coupling" is basically what I was saying but instead of putting a "hood" over the projector, hard connect directly to the projector, dump it directly into the theater and make the theater ceiling the "hood". From there the HVAC returns can pick it up and distribute it. The other half of the thought was to grab the projectors supply air from low in the theater where it's the coolest. Filter it and pump it up to the base of the projector. Wire the inducer fan to come on with the projector. As the projector warms up, it will also begin to convect adding to the total airflow through the projector.
As long as the inducer is on the supply side, there won't be any dust problems within the projector.
Keep an eye on those pleated filters. They plug up fast.

Day 2 of the carpet installation. It looks like the job may take four or five days to complete after all. Things MUST be done by Saturday as the seat installation starts Monday.
Still waiting to hear when the wall panels can be finished...

I was re-reading this thread from the beginning and it has obviously taken a tad longer than the initial timeline you stated in your first posts. At that time you figured it would be a year before you were ready to "rock and roll", but the extra time was well worth the wait!! Just thinking of the upcoming screenshots is enough to make this weekend warrior drool.
Because we have tunnel vision here and rarely ask about anything not related to HT's (as is expected!), how is the rest of the house coming along?
As an aside, I pulled up a YouTube of Bill Gates house, rendered in 3D, and the technology he's incorporated is nothing short of astounding! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RTu8f9CrvI
I also stumbled on his house with Google Earth by following YouTube links. I wasn't crazy about the fact his exact address is listed. If it were me, and I were a target for the whacko's of the world, that would deeply concern me.
I read way back in the thread Clarence hinted at paying a visit when it's done as he lives near you and travels to your area frequently. You don't know him (at least I don't know you do) but he's a pro quality photographer, all around smart cookie, and one helluva guy. It would be wonderful if you'd extend an invitation to him to pay you a visit so as to provide us here with an impartial perspective of your achievements. Clarence is a talented professional himself who is more than up to the task of writing a publication quality article.
Not that you aren't 'one of us' now and can't provide duplicate information but let's face it, you've LIVED it for the last couple years! It would be great if one of the longer running highly respected members of our 'club' (in any forum) could get a personal showing.
Awesome accomplishment Mr. Chase! Definately something to crow about.

I have been lurking and vicariously enjoying seeing the theater come together. The only thread I disduss/show to my wife, and she is impressed. That last photo really shows how superb it is going to be.

Just a quick update:
As [I think] I reported last week, the carpet installers worked two days, and then did not show up. As they say in diplomatic circles, a "frank and candid conversation" with the owner resulted in the carpet crew arriving back on Saturday, and finishing today. The wall fabric/acoustic installer worked nine hours on Sunday to finish the job.
The seat installation is now scheduled for Thursday and Friday.
Leo Bassett will fire up and calibrate the projector on June 19 and 20.
John Allen will equalize and level adjust the sound system on June 27.
At that point, just a few minor items (theater door upholstery, control wiring and programming, etc. will be left.
After the July 4th holiday, I'll try to coordinate a photo/evaluation session with Chip and Clarence.
I'll also get some updated photos posted in the next few days.
Arnold

Thanks for the update Arnold. At long last eh? Have you chosen a first movie(s) yet?
I rarely wish to be anyone else but right now I'd give 5 years earnings to be Chip or Clarence.

I don't think we ever were told what automation system you settled on. Crestron, AMX.........Radio Shack push buttons in a plastic project box.
Partial to Crestron myself

Ummm, wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy a plane ticket or are you interested in their pjs as well?
At this point, do you still like your choice of pjs? It is probably way out of your budget and most everyone elses, but the JVC 4k is the best pj I have seen for showing still images. The pictures that were shown at Cedia were incredible. For movies, it still looked nice, but it could definitely use some improvement. I am guessing that the processor needs the most work for upconverting to 4k.

At the risk of being labeled a heretic, I must confess that I've never been a big fan of automation. I'm the guy with fifty remotes at his side (and happy to boot). I guess it started when the first "all in one" remotes came out and it was difficult or impossible to do everything the dedicated remotes could do (i.e., convergence adjustments, really minor functions, etc.). (Hint: Look for the little black "dot" at the top of the first picture - it's the I.R. receiver)
For now, I think the LiteTouch should be quite capable of dimming the lights, opening the curtain, starting the projector, etc.
The carpet installation is done, and that means we are ready for the seat installation. The crew is due here in the morning, and should be finished by Friday afternoon. Unfortunately, first thing in the morning I have to drive an hour to attend a funeral just as the crew arrives, so I won't get to see the first couple of rows go in.

WOW, all that and a coffee table full of remotes to boot.
There's no way you've spent this much time on just the theater project without someone at least suggesting that you incorporate some sort of automation.
I'm not a dealer or even a certified programmer so don't take this as a sales pitch. I do program my own stuff though. Crestrons next generation of hardware is just out. That said, I doubt there is anything in your theater that even two generation old Crestron equipment could not completely control (with ease).
If it's IR or RS232 or even web based my two generation old system can do it, right down to converging the projector.
Whatever the original remote can do can be done from a wireless crestron touch panel. If it's a 2-way panel, you can even show text feedback from say your projector if there's a problem. It would be nice to know it's overheating in advance when you're 50 feet away or when the lamp goes and your wondering why the projector won't light up.
If I make it to the opening, I'll bring my wireless touch panel with me for you to look at. I have two touchscreens in my theater. One big (wired) one for every day use and the wireless one that is full featured but I only use for walking up to the screen to tweak the projector with.

In my old HT setup, I typically would have "only" three remotes: The wired Hughes-JVC projector control, the DVD (then Blu-Ray) remote, and the Lexicon remote. I'll readily admit this is an argument I'm not going to win, I'm just going to have to get there kicking and screaming.
I need to do some further study to see if the professional gear such as the Dolby Cinema processor can easily interface with consumer automation gear.
