Hello, all.
I'm feeding my Frankenyoke-equipped 8000 the output of a Linux-based MythTV box. Currently, it's set at 1080i-71.93 Hz. I've started to notice in the past few days (not that it didn't exist before) a sort of flickering in the picture - it's almost like what I'm used to seeing when somebody has a CRT monitor set for 60Hz. This is on HDTV sources - I mainly noticed it on ABC. I can set the computer up to output the standard 1080P modeline (60Hz), and the flicker goes away, but the porches aren't set right, so the left 10% of the picture is off the tube.
Should I be seeing this flickering effect? Is 71.93Hz not what I should have my output set to? What other rate should I try? Here is my current modeline:
| Code: | | ModeLine "ATSC-1080-71.93i" 89.011 1920 1920 1920 2496 1080 1082 1088 1125 Interlace |
TIA for the help!

I know almost nothing about MythTV or related, but: 71.93Hz is a good scan rate for DVDs, because it's 3x the speed of the original source film. But that doesn't mean it's a good rate for ALL signals. If I'm not mistaken, HDTV signals have a 60Hz refresh, so 60Hz is what you SHOULD run for HDTV broadcast.

OK - that makes sense. Perhaps I can adjust my 60Hz 1080P modeline to fit on my tube face better.

OK - it looks a lot better now. Unfortunately, now it looks like I have some rolling bars - similar to a ground loop problem. Argh!
