I bought my HD and BD used for dirt cheap and buy all my discs second hand...I'm always looking to save a buck and care not a bit about how much the executives bonuses will be this year in either camp....thats just me though

See, money moving from one pocket to another (yes, bribes) can easily sway decisions. Its not about who makes a better delivery system, but rather who does a better job bribing the right people. Sony is bribing on the reteail end, and their competition is focusing their bribery efforts in the board room.

Micheal Bay is pissed off about this news and says "no transformers 2" -seriously not kidding.

I'm not going neutral, I think it will just take a little while longer for Blu ray to become the new standard (like another year instead of just 4 months.)

When politics get in the way of artists trying to creative entertainment for their audiences at home then its no longer worth the bother. At this point let the Feds regulate it (can't get any worse).

Hi There,
I doubt the studios will go for two formats, its twice the producion and bits. However if they do, then the pressings will probably be at the lowest comon denominator and as such only features that are identical on both formats will be present, so thier discs will be neutered. How many console/pc games are copies of the lowest format at the time ?
so far reading about the two formats, it seems that HD is the consumers choice, being region free and generaly with better content and BlueRay is Sonys choice, being region restictive and so far poor and sloppy releases. I know BR has larger capacity but generaly they don't seem to be using it...And besides "TWO DISC SE" seems to engender a customer to fork out more cash for a release than a single disc that is packed with the goodies !
The whole HD thing seems to be a bit of a hotch potch on disc anyway, with HDCP and rights issues, particularly for the HTPC crowd who were fairly influencial in the start of DVD...As for the audio side, again we are into players decoding as amps are only on the eve of implimenting hdmi audio properly, i was hoping HD was gonna sidestep that one.
Cya,
Lee

Where are you buying the HD-DVD and BD discs second-hand if you don't mind me asking?

Aside from the big movie companies picking one over the other I can't see why any retailer would choose one over the over. This is utterly ridiculous given the products are not overlapping. This is capatilism at is finest folks. Lots of deals being done at the upper-food-chain tables. This makes the decision easy for me - I'm keeping my Beta machine;)

God, please dont let either format win. It has been a win/win for consumers so far because the adoption rate for each format has risen enough to support either side and the big guys keep getting to duke it out and make the absolute best transfer to disc they have because of it........
I'm loving this. It's awesome. Both sides have progressed so fast together that if either were to lose, I have a feeling that without competition, well, we'd be sitting on 1K players, high priced media, and who gives a crap attitude toward the consumer.
Bring it please. Keep the war going on for a long long time to come.
Cliffy

Beta rocks. I own a bunch
VHS won?? Strange.
Sony didn't market Beta properly back in the day. Guess they are making more of an effort with BR.

C'mon don't sugar coat it. Tell us what you really think.
I agree too. Way too much bias in his reporting.

A $150 Million bribe is the only thing that could do it. Nice. That money probably could have done better bribing the FCC and Congre$$ members.

Seems silly, and without tangible bravado. I'd much rather pay someone to eliminate an obstacle than to change the obstacle's mind.
