Wow, I thought only the flat-panel TVs were changed. The return policy on the Toshiba is a moot point. I went to three Costco's near me and called several others all to be told they do not sell it. I found only one store that would sell a standalone Blu-ray. And the price on the PS3 through Costco makes it moot as well.
But this isn't to put a bad light solely on Costco. Best Buy can't 'best' anyone when it comes to buying a standalone anything. Yes, they are the b!tches of the manufacturers. With that kind of price-fixing why even consider them over the manufacturer's own online stores?
BB, CC, and HFB all declined to move from list price on the Toshiba HD-A2/20 and BDP-S300. Heck, BB would move much on the HD DVD version of 300 (both CC and Target beat them). I wind up giving Amazon (of all people) the business for the HD DVD playback.
Oh, BB had the Microsoft Xbox 360 HD DVD drive for $149.99 this morning when I checked around 5:30AM. I printed the ad and was declined the honor by BB nearest my workplace and workplace. By 11AM the retail stores were not honoring their mistake, had changed the online price, and again seated themselves to a "list only" store. They should change their name to Best List Buy.
Now I am thinking of smiting them and buying the PS3 at Wally World. lol

I got my 360 Premium (20GB HD), with VGA cable (ended up getting a 3rd party component cable with PS3 and Wii connectors from Walmart in case friends end up getting those systems for BYO console party), 1 wired controller, 1 wireless controller, Prey, and Burnout Revenge for $300 used from Craigslist. Naturally, about 2 weeks after getting it, and hardly playing it in that 2 weeks, I got the dreaded Red Ring of Death. However, even though I'm not the original owner, M$ is still honoring the 3-year extended warranty on RRoD. They transferred the console under my name and are shipping a 360 coffin to me. It's kind of a pain, but I'll survive. I think it beats paying retail. The extended warranty was part of the reason I got one. Of course, the console I bought was supposedly already repaired. We'll see if they get it right this time. You'd think they would get it right the first time so that the $1 billion price tag for repairs doesn't turn into a $3 billion price tag or more. I have another friend that bought a 360 that plays it a lot and hasn't experienced any hardware issues. I think his was in the 2nd batch of 360s.

I think is nice. Wondering what firmware version allows for up-scaling of regular DVDs, though. Tried two James Bond DVDs and both wouldn't go beyond 480P over the HDMI cable.

Does it have 5.1 analogue outs?
How do you get lossless sound?
My PC does lossless right now for HD-DVD, but a PS3 is cheaper than a blu-ray drive for the PC...

You need firmware version 1.80 or above - I can't remember if you need to activate it, there's an option if i recall correctly in the video section
(not hard to find)
good luck!!
