I have not seen or heard of them - The Zenith 1200 (Cine 8 Onyx) has them and the LC hardware is the same. The Lenses are basically the same - just different throw difference.

I have always thought Onyx have filters inside F1.18 lenses, because prochure mention only R/G filtered lenses. Surprised

Based on this Kal's write up on Curt' site "Tinted (colour filtered) c-elements are used in the LC'ed assembly for the Red and Green lenses for more accurate colours. Other then the Cine series, all other 8" and 9" EM focusing Barcos are [SIC] use clear c-elements or clear glycol. Projectors without tinted glycol/c-elements tend to display red as red/orange and green as green/yellow." I would say it uses colored C Elements.

Pete from reading the post this is what I my take on upgrading my Barco Graphics 808s?

1. Swap the tubes out with 120mhz neck boards. Will the install be pretty much straight forward or is there some trick I don't know about?

What other suggestions might you have. I just thought since there is interest in upgrading this would also help other people out as well as me.

Thats all :

Smile

Only issues occur with a BG(D) 808 (non s - 2 piece neckboard) - the neckboard wires are shorter and will not reach the 120 mhz neckboard. This is fixed by replacing the main board (not the most fun).

So - replace the sony tubes with the high res P16 and retain the 120 mhz neckboards - what a deal. Smile

Since I will have all those extra boards will I be able to use them as spares? Also I noticed that the green was colored filtered do you think Curt could put a Red filter in? Extra charge of course Thumbs Up Then all I would need is the 144 or 145 lenses clear and not filtered. The LC part I can live with out.

Z I came across a lc top plate so I am going for the conversion 8) Curt is shipping out the retro tomorrow. I have a question about the bottom shim. Will it still be needed or do you feel there was enough support with the lc top mount plate Question

Thanks

I ran it for quite a bit without a shim. The engineer in me would require a permanent fix.

Z or Curt my Retro is on the way from Curt and I have all the parts needed for the conversion but I might be able to mount it without doing the switch and installing the HD215 and be done. My question is that the Retro comes with the contrast modulation board. Do I just pull out the port 3 board on the G808S and install it or is it morE complicated than that Question

I have never messed with Barco Contrast modulation board. MadMrH would be your best bet for infor on that.

I have a set of instructions on how to install the contrast modulation board written by MadMrH, if I could only find them. Look for the instructions posted by MadMrH on AVS - I got them there.

I just got the retro from curt and the tubes are pristine. Mr. Green I have a setup that would allow me to use the whole retro unit but I am having trouble moving the red up or down. Anyone know a trick to do this Question

I have figured out by removing the convergence tray that I can move left to right but am stump by up and down.

I have all the parts to do the conversion on my 808s but would like to avoid if possible.

Thanks Greg

On the retro units the tubes are fixed (some toe in adjustment).
To move the Red/Blue vertical use the pots.
