You seem to be reading my mind The distributor I am talking about was spatz-tech. But unfortunetly they are out of stock. I was a little bit astonished to see a price of 230€ (~310US$) but that is for the available additional input board only. The Holo3D is, in my opinion, one of the best input cards as it already has a faroudja deinterlacer incorporated. The SDI input is a nice gimmick as well. Maybe there is some retailer in the US with some of them in stock.

The Holo3d didn't handle anything above 480p I believe.
Nycon, since it only handles 2 channel audio you can't route everything through the HTPC regardless of whether you are trying to capture or just use it as a scaler.

Faroudja processing is hopelessly outdated nowadays.
They were good a couple of years ago (DVP-5000), but there hasn't been any notable innovation from them in the past couple of years.

Anyway, the holo was state of the art when I got to play around with one around two years ago. Okay, thats that with the Holo. Won't mention it anymore
@madpoet: I think you don't even have to route audio through the PC. Unless, of course, you don't have a capable reciever which I thought would be the least problem. I thought that for the new audio formats (shame on me, I am still quite content with DTS or Dolby 5.1) one needs a reciever with HDMI input anyways. And since a reciever usually only is responsible for sound, there is another HDMI output to the display device. This is why I always thought the exact formulation of all devices involved in the chain have to be HDCP compilant in order to get a picture. I might be wrong, but in my naive mind io pictured it top be that way.

I think if you run video through a computer you will need to run audio also. Propogation may cause sync issues.

Racer,
I think this could be somewhat popular, but it will depend on overall cost and which sources can be used. With HD-DVD drives and OTA HD cards, I guess the only thing that would be lost would be cable/satellite channels.
I am not sure if this is a labor of love or money making venture. If it is the former, then it could be beneficial for yourself and the CRT community. If it is the latter, then that would depend on the amount of money you consider good to make this worthwhile. Either way, I would expect somewhere around twenty sales. If you would have brought this out last year, then you may have received a lot more interest.

Ive found a way to blend for about £2000 ($4000)
Currently ordered items for the full test version.
Thats 2ch blending which most home cinema systems will use - IF blending.....
Able to do many channels.
