I found the ddcw.exe EDID writer at the same time Clarence. It looks like the zip already has info for an NEC monitor included, which is useless for all but illustration purposes.
I know I'm not going to mess with the EDID in my moome either.

Or better yet, just post it on the forum here in a sticky "EDID updates" and no need to email. I'd manage it.

That is a PHENOMENAL idea Kal. I've been having problems with my ISS card for a while now and would LOVE to be able to flash an update to it to fix my problems.

Thanks for the reply Graham,
So you are not using DVI, nor HDMI outputs to rewrite the EDID content, you simply use Ponyprog through a serial port of you PC, right ?
What hardware interface do you use between PC serial port and DVI/HDMI device port ? SI-Prog ?
This solution is OK but requires the end-user to have a hardware interface to be able to update his EDID content. The best and cheaper solution for the end-user would be to use a software only based solution though the DVI or HDMI port of the PC graphic card

Hi Greg,
I know this tool for some time now. Unfortunatly:
- it is usable from pure DOS mode only,
- It allows to read (and write) the first EDID 128 bytes block ONLY (and not the EIA-CEA861 extended EDID block which is the one that often need to be updated nowadays  )

So has anyone had any luck updating from a PC? I have a first gen DVI card for Sony PJ's and would like to update to the latest/greatest EDID info.
Or am I better off just sending Moome the cost of shipping and getting a new chip? What's the current rate?

Pony Prog and an I squared C (I2C) cable was what was used to update Mits RP TV for red push. Some soldering experience would be necessary. There was another program used for this but I forget what it is called. Old is a bitch.

The EDID chip sits right on the DVI/HDMI connector.
So I made a programmer that plugs into the printer port of my PC.
I then cut a 6' DVI/HDMI cable in two. Wired both cables into the interface box.
This now lets me program both DVI and HDMI Moome cards.
I then read the EDID chips in a Sony 1080p LCD TV, and a Toshiba 1080p LCD TV.
I compered the two chips, morfed them and wrote Moomes header to the new file.
This is the file I use to program all flavers of Moome cards.
If any of you need this to be done on any of your cards. I will do this for $7.50 plus return postage.

I bought the Moome IIS card some time ago to future proof my system while the card was available. I have been feeding some upscaled standard DVD stuff from an Oppo player via the component port and the HDMI port without problems. I have recently bought a multi standard drive for my HTPC and have tried to connect the DVI port on my ATI 2600 XT card (catalyst 8.4 and power strip profile 1440 by 1080 50 Hz0 via an adapter cable to the HDMI input. No joy.
Unde the circumstances I did not worry about the EDID problems some were having at the time I got the card.
Am I right in assuming that the EDID cannot accept that configuration or do I need to reporgam the EDID (better get it done)?

If it were me I would just run analog (RGBHV). I do with my XG and IMO it works just as well.
