Would someone please check the first page of this thread and let me know if my screenshots are showing up? I cannot see them from my browser. I have been having massive problems with linking images to this forum as of late for some reason......

Not sure what that happens. try it yourself .

the only way I can get it to open is to copy the image url to a new tab then I can see it. why would it be broken after all of these years? Did the code on the forum change to block images linked to my domain?

Hey, Cliffy... I don't think this server is blocking anything... Since the images are accessible from blank browser window/tab, but not when embedded in the page, I'm pretty sure your web server just has hotlinking disabled. Could be something your ISP did if you have a hosting package, or if you upgraded or changed your server config, it could have changed the .htaccess files.
Just google "hotlink htaccess" or similar and you should be able to get it going again.

Lord have mercy I think I need a new provider. LMAO. I tried over and over again lately to address this. They completely changed the software that is used to manage the domain. Maybe I should have Kal take a look?

The cell phone camera uses contrast detection to autofocus... No contrast when the image goes dark, so the camera steps through its entire focus range trying to refocus... Freaking out in the process.

Dude, after watching that sheot, DA BOMB! The colors suck, but I honestly think you will NOT find any digital anytime soon to truly capture this

I agree Cliff. I'm even now finding myself trying to capture the more difficult areas in a scene, the darker or even trying to show image depth.
The sharpness on my screen would make you think you'll looking at a digital, but a digital could never be that natural looking..

Even a brightness-compressed CRT can generate way more dynamic range than a camera can capture. Cliffy's stack is especially good, so probably well over double the dynamic range of what even a good camera can capture, let alone a cell phone camera or even a point/shoot. Since blown out highlights look terrible, camera exposure exposes for good highlight detail and lets the shadows go black. Even a crappy digital would have good blacks in screen shots from a camera on auto-exposure.

That's one of the things I loved about a good CRT. Too bad you can't capture any of that in a screen shot unless you get right up on the screen so the camera's spacial resolution far exceeds that of the projector's in that area of the screen.
If you guys are interested, I can post some screen shots from my JVC this weekend - just for fun.
Cheers,
SC
