I really do hope you find a solution for this. This problem is bugging me ever since I switched to the Marquee. I always thought this was somehow related to my video chain, so I'm kind of happy that other guys are seeing this as well |
Strange as it may sound, the "ringing" seen in my shots (and on the screen) is coming from the video chain, not the HDM..
It may be the HDM on another Marquee, but that's and based on what I've found out today, it would be smaller line. Not the bands like shown in my shots.
I did a complete sweep of the H-drive pulse all out to the power Fets. There was a tad of ringing, but nothing beyond the usually. mainly because it's hard to scope that sweep section. And when you do, you have to solder a ground right near every point that you measure.
There is one point in that chain where ringing is a concern... the H-drive IC should have been placed right next to the Fet drive transformer.
Once I found out where that noise (ringing) was coming from, I was able to vary it by making changes to the vertical blanking pulse that goes into the AD835.

I have seen this on just about every projector directly connected to the source with a textbook set-up. It's the nature of the beast. There are work-arounds but then you're manipulating the raw image. Not a bad thing but it would be nice if you didn't have to do it. I get two ripples on the left side with no head room to adjust it out. On the AmPro it's hardly seen but it is there.

I'll be getting back to the ringing problem soon. I took two pictures showing how I can manipulate the ringing on the VIM.

WOW!!! I was looking at the vertical blanking circuit, do you think it might be due to the removal of the edge blend contrast circuit? Also what are you changing to get suck a massive ringing? And that almost looks like the bars in my images i have in the center from the cables braiding VDC does.
Craig Rounds also said he noticed those bars can be altered by adjusting side blanking.

The problem can be made to vary on the VIM, but it's actually caused from the HDM.
I've ordered a couple of parts and will be getting back to this. I think, not 100% sure I have it isolated down to a stage. I'll know for sure once i get the parts in.

Here are some of my 1251q on a 111" wide 2.40:1 BOC screen
I had these over on AVS, but thought I should post them over here too.

These are untouched other than resized by flickr.

Happy New Year everyone!
Thought I'd do a few screens before I take the space heater down. Will be hooking up fan to ductwork and building hushbox. No plans to retire it in the forseeable future (although I did get a flat panel for the BR to save our necks from falling asleep on the couch)

Can you see that with the naked eye or is it just your camera capturing the blend zone?

These were taken 2 years ago Jan. with my Pentax K100D 6MP. Electrohome 4500 projecting 60" on white/silver flecked fabric backing. It was a crude setup but it worked decent for the time.
