Thanks Cliff. I did a little more work today. 30% was too green and I tweaked that. But its the zone Contrast that really needs work. But that will be a big pain. You have to move the Probe to each of the 9 zones and tweak each one in the PJ settings. The go back and re calibrate the center after you get the uniformity close. then go back and recheck the zones. Repeat and rinse till less and less changes are measured at each zone with the main center calibration. I am working on a Probe mount rig where I can just move the probe to the location I want. It will mounted to my Screen frame as a big Cross with mounting locations for the maine 4 zones I care about. the centers and the 3 zones at the blend edges.
I'd need a good 3-4 days for that!.

It's not perfect but the best I have seen it. Still some work with the
higher % whites and a few lower % whites. But damn, that 125 point
calibration feature in the Lumagen and Chromapure is awesome.
I know they say its for mostly digital Displays but i have to disagree.
There are such faint images that I never knew existed in some movies.
Like a faint smoke in the foreground, or details of clothing, facial
imperfections, moisture on surfaces , faint cirrus cloud streaks etc.
I have already watched 4 movies in two nights!! I tried to watch the
Amazing Spiderman last night but there were so many audio drop outs
I had to stop. Not sure what the Oppo BDP83 is doing , all other movies
I have played fine including prometheus which is new.

Do you mean that CRT is not so linear as we imagine?

What were the size of the Caps you used on the G2 lines on the HVPS in the pics over on AVS?
I have been wanting to go with some film Caps there. Looks like you used Ceramics?
Athanasios |
They are .0015uf 1500v
Yes the caps are ceramics. while you're at it, remove all carbon composite resistors from the G2 supply, and do so all the way to the G2 pin on the crt - meaning to also replace the 10k and 100k on the neck boards with Carbon Film or some other non noisy resistor that can handle high voltage.

No, it's just an eyeball setup. I was thinking to at least do a basic color calibration, but there is a problem with the red that I'm concerned about it not taking. I have a different coolant in the red tube that's not glycol based. And because it is somewhat different especially being much clearer, the reds are behaving very differently. I may just hold off until I can get them all matched with the same coolant. Most likely the clear stuff.
At present the real changes are bandwidth related, and that's something I'm still surprised about and still checking out.

WOW.. Thats a nice punch in those pics.. i'm sure the contrast ratio on that stack is beating about anything out there..
I would love to play with a 9500 LC stack some day..
