So So So Very close, Awaiting Jeremy's arrival so i took some pics of avatar 1/2 sized down using the Oppo's zoom control.

I know now for a fact i should go to LC conversion, not for the 9 inch but just for the
elimination of halos. It is not good for the Blend Zone. But It looks really really good. Just a little more tweaking and I think it will be 98% perfect.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Thanks Guys!!

Jeremy, I figured out the linearity issue and another issue i did not realize till I
began looking at a pattern that will be on the new AVS-HD disc. Alluring reality
posted them up on the calibration forum after I asked to make a pattern with a
2.35/2.40 aspect ratio with diagonal lines in the grid boxes. In this pattern he
added a light blue border to signify the difference between the 2.35 and 2.4 aspect.
He added 8 pixel top and bottom, inside it's 2.4 out side the blue frame its 2.35 and
the side frames are the same for both.Well i realized i was missing the side frame border.
I put the pattern up and then shifted phase till they cam into view. But now the center
is way off. Remember Jeramy when I mentioned its not the full 140 inches of the old
screen, well i found out why. Some how the entire grid moved inward on both PJ's Must
have happened when I fell asleep on the remote and it was making changes while i was
sleeping!! Doh!!! I couldn't figure out why the next day things were off a bit. Wink

Well i fixed that but i still had what i thought was a linearity issue. I redid convergence across
the entire Grid for both PJ's and got it as best as it has ever been. But it was still there!!
I tried to remember if i touched anything in the scalers regarding sync or something. Then I
remember i did!! in the Tv-ones i was looking for the lies on the edge of the rasters and was
adjusting the syncs in the tv-ones resolution menu, and any changes made there are permanent
I just found out even if you do not save them!!!

Well I fixed that and waalla!! No more weird heat zone affect in the Blend zone!

So i gained another 5 inches in image width too Wink

Now that i have it basically done i want to try using 96 hz instead of 72hz.

More work, but I just have to try Wink

Glad you figured out what your nocturnal adjustments did.

It's funny about the scalers remembering adjustment's even when not saved.
Maybe if you power cycled them?

yeah, I will keep the remote on he chair next to me next time Wink

I also saw a post From Craig Rounds about setting the radiance's to Gen Lock
when inputing 24hz
to them. That really helped !!!

So I remember when I was at Cliffs Meet a couple years ago and he put on a
D-VHS of Moulan Rouge and thinking WOW, this is the strangest film and cinematography
I have ever seen. it was eerily dark yet vivid and vibrant when colors were in the scene.
Now much detail in the shadows but immersive all the same.

So I saw that it came out on BD yesterday and had to pick it up. I was going to do a
touch up Gamma Calibration after watching National treasure last night the snow scene in
the beginning had the blend zone showing the entire time.
I think parts are maybe whiter than white? I wish I could calibrate the 109% with
the radiance but they do not have that high a pattern. But there should not be a
109% white in any movie right? So i will have to revisit this area again and wanted
to tonight. Having said that i now watch an movie for about 30 minutes for warm up, but
I ended up watching the entire movie. Its really good!! At Cliff's we only watched selected
scenes he want to show off.

Well I decided to take some screenies for Cliffster!!

I think it is also purposefully shot a little out of focus or the camera guy had a hard time
focusing in the lighting they used as in some scenes you can see them do a close up on a
face and then after a second it will begin to focus. Not sure if it was done on purpose but it
worked for the film.

For color reproduction tests this is a reference disc, it also has lots of film grain, so i guess if
you see that your focus is done properly Wink

I know, I know not more 5th Element Pics. But it is the reference disc most are familiar with.

I have been trying to tweak out the calibration using calman and my Radiance's. I was using 2.35 gamma and tried 2.25 last night and tonight. but the processing the Lumagen was using caused Posterization. I just now realized this probably happened because i used 2.4 when i did the 2 point calibration in the PJ. So when I went to use 2.25 it was tying to hard to overcome the 2.4 gamma of the display. So i had to reset it all and went with 2.35 on these pics. I must say 2.25 brightened up the low end a bit more so i might revisit the Pj's 2 point calibration. I ma not sure if my theory is correct with what I just said but thinking about it makes some sense.

So here are mu latest, I must say the blend zone is 95% invisible. Some scenes where the camera would pan across the screen would reveal the blend zone. I have that almost gone now!!!
