That last one is excellent! It is of a small portion of the screen so each projector pixel is handled by several camera pixels (or if rescaled each projector pixel uses many image pixels). The other screen shots look great but can't show the finest details when a complete screen (1920x1080) or almost 2,000,000 pixels are shown on a picture that has a few hundred thousand pixels.

After being enlightened to this earlier, I went back and took more close ups of test patterns that would reveal more of the resolve power of the video chain at that resolution.

These are the other most challenging test patterns for CRT at high resolutions. I'm using an 02 VIM on these. And I'm blown away to see that air coupled 8500 maintain and bring out the black and sharpness of those patterns.

Still at 1920x1080 @ 72hz

I'll try that later, but at a lower resolution. I'll try 1080P 60hz and something below.

The later Barco mods should also maintain the black and sharpness in those patterns, and should do it very well.. Wink

Test patterns are a must when tweaking and doing mods. The last patterns are in Displaymate for Windows (http://www.displaymate.com/). At high resolutions, the goal is both black and sharpness.

Someone needs to come up with a test pattern disc available to all of us so when we see shots of them we can compare and know what to look for etc...

I'm blown away by those test patterns Mike. I struggle to get my XG LC close to that at 1080i 96hz (same as 1080p 48hz really).

I gather the top two pics are 2:2 and the bottom two are 1:1?

But I did find that on 1:1 test patterns my Air Coupled PG Xtra had the edge. I really think that the haze from AC lenses really doesn't affect these particular 1:1 style patterns that much. But I imagine that HD-10s are a step up from HD-18's - one big advantage of a Marquee 8500LC.

Still, I've got pretty reasonable 1:1 lines at 1080i 96hz with the XG, just my photography sucks. And you'll have to tear my LC lenses from my cold dead hands Smile

I'm very impressed.

M8500 (air coupled) is very sharp (from my experience with one) but getting it that sharp at 1080@72 is quite a accomplishment.

Simply amazing Clarence. Your screen shots almost always look like screen caps but you now there not and just get amazed all over again.

I'll have to play that clip again to see if it really looks as blue as it came out in my screenshot.

I highly doubt it. That's why everyone bitches about how useless screenshots are.

"Over the Hedge" was on HD cable this week.

Like most animation, it looks really good...

Actually, it's a pretty funny movie, too.

Looks really good! Just wondering what 300 is listed under? Regular movies because I could not find it anywhere on the live marketplace.
