I was emailing a guy today that said he was waiting for a courier to arrive today to pick up a crated-up 909.....
Too much of a coincidence I think
Good stuff......you realize this is all "useless without pics"
Congrats and keep us up-to-date

Of course, but I cannot take pics of something I do not have received yet. Will do so as soon as the 909 has arrived!

Why, it's just marginally better than your Cine 8 Onyx

Finally, the BarcoReality 909 has arrived! <insert big, very big smile here>
In a giant, wooden crate, I discovered the following items:
- BarcoReality 909 projector (painted black)
- A set of three HD10F lenses with lens covers
- A red C-element (I already have the green one)
- An original Barco newer style remote
I will try to take some pics today, but it is still crated as all of my colleagues are off today, no way I can get this beast into my car, I'm not that muscular like Curt (how the hell does he handle all those projectors?) 8)
BTW, I got the projector from Mr. King from Sweden. Thanks again for the tremendous job, Conny!

The 909 is easier to move than the 1209s.
Good to hear its arrived with you.
waiting pics............

Glad it arrived okay and that it will be going to a loving home.
I spent 5 hours making and packing that damn crate together with a friend so it had better get there unharmed! =)
If you can find another buddy to help you out you could use a sack barrow on one side and then lift at the other side and roll it around like that I wouldn't try moving it around alone though since it weighs about 150kg.
Guess I could contribute with some pics now that Peter spilled the beans on where it came from.. =)

Some more pics... Thanks Conny!
I'll not be able to carry the projector to my car today, as there's nobody around to help me. Nothing important though. I can sleep tonight. Really.
Red C-element:
The remote:
The lights!
The projector still in the crate:
From the other side:
One of the HD10F lenses:
Close up of the sticker. These probably came off a 1292, because of the black felt on the body. The lenses are six years older than the projector.
That's it for today, I'm looking forward to build this beast up with the newish P19LUG tubes I got earlier.

A few more pics before the 909 is going to be rebuilt on friday.
The old 1209s, now sitting in a corner of the room
There is the 909!
The built-in remote
The board compartiment. It's worth noting that the inputboards (far left side) are now much farther away from the SMPS. Is this done to decrease the noise?
One 180MHz neckboard. I immediately noticed that there are no CRT sockets; instead of this the board itself is the socket. Very strange, I do not remember having seen this on my other PJ's.
A close up of the neck boards.
The yoke, focus coil and astig magnets.
The CRT compartiment, ready for a nice set of P19LUGs
The convergence tray, the heart of the 909.

FWIW, that's exactly how they do it on Marquees too. See http://www.curtpalme.com/ElectrohomeMarquee_Layout7.shtm

Thanks for showing me that example! Is there a special reason to do it this way (less noise/connection loss?)

Yup! They redesigned the whole chassis to remove electrical noise as much as possible. The convergence tray (as you noted in another pic) was also completely redesigned to run cooler/better. In the Cine 8 there's no efficiency to the airflow design.

Beats me, ask tse.
BTW I shouldn't have said it's exactly the same. The Marquee neckboards are just a flat board. They don't have the "projecting forward" bits and the ring around the tube neck. But you can see the end of the tube sticks right through the board, and the tube pins plug directly into the board.

I don't think anyone actually said "you suck" but it is a Barco thread so the word "it" may be what your looking for

Lower capacitance. Consider that it takes 0.1A of current to charge 1pF (a very small value) to 100V in 1nS. Those old style CRT sockets with their parasitic capacitance kill bandwidth. The pin sockets in the circuit board are the most efficient way to go.

Interesting!
Shouldn't you be able to mod regular Barco neckboards then and remove the plastic connector altogether and just drill holes in it instead then for lower capacitance?
Doesn't really look like rocket science.

good way to bend a pin on the back of the tube.....The Sony 'high capacitance' plastic connectors are radiused to align the pins as they connect to the neck board.....me thinks you have a higher chance damaging the tube with anything less "formular one" than a 909, where 10/10th of performance seems to be eeked out of every path...
