No, it was almost three years ago, and Curt and I went together on the deal. A local sports bar sold them. I picked them up and shipped four of them to Curt. Since I did the heavy lifting, I got the pick of the litter.

I remember that. Something like 8000 hours + on the tubes. I think I scrapped one, retubed all of the rest. If I remember, they ran the raster right to the edges of the tubes, so they had a lot less wear than expected.

Dang Gary...., I think that beats Curts last picture.
You dont want to do that with LC's or you will end up with melted C elements. Doug

2000 Viggen with necessary suspension mods
1990 SPG with engine, turbo, and suspension mods

Well, our garage only has my '02 9-5 Aero wagon and my wife's Porsche. But over the last 20+ years I've owned an '86 900T (bought used with 23k miles on the clock), an '88 900, and an '88 9000T (both bought with > 100k). All driven past 180k, except the Aero which only has 75k so far. But with the GM-izing of Saab, I dunno if I'll be driving Saabs much longer. If only I could find a cherry low-miles '86 900T or early-90's 9000T... but that's a bit like finding a nice G70 with 50 hours on the tubes. Wanna sell your SPG??

I'm the second owner, it is cherry and only has 90,000 miles.
I'm keeping it. It is my favorite one of the bunch. But, I may have went a little crazy with it. With the 280 WHP, that weak tranny won't last long! But, I'm keeping it forever!

I wasn't picking on digital projectors, but rather the websites being referred to as reference websites worth noting.

And what's wrong with those sites? I mean other than the fact that it is only for digitals, but this is the "digital" section of the forum.
For anybody who needs a digital, the info on those sites is invaluable.
Anybody else have pics of CRT's in odd situations?

I think the P C you offered does a wonderful job at spreading selfish opinion instyead of being objective. And when that isn't happening they like to just report misinformation.
Remember, how can one trust them when their business model is to bring ignorant consumers to untrusting resellers?

Ah, Point taken.
I was looking primarily at the specs and reviews. If one looked particularily interesting, I would go to my local A&B Sound and have them demo it. I always take info with a grain of salt, so for me it wasn't an issue. I can see how the averae joe would fall prey to what he read quickly.
As for me, I had almost picked out a digital (after almost 5 years of looking) and now I've spent over a year looking at CRT. I still don't have one, but I know that I've done my due diligence and narrwed it down to 3 and that is only due to budget. The better my budget, I move up from PG to XG to XG LC.
I agree most people wouldn't spend the time. Most would go to a store, look at the 2 demo models and pick the cheaper one.

Your Aero is our SPG. Same car.
Basically, you can get forged pistons, cam shafts, there are a couple places in the U.S. that do do heads for them. There are some injectors that are made for V8 fords that are higher flow that can be dropped in. A few guys make modded APCs to up the boost and knock repsonse/reboost time way down.
I'm also running water injection on mine. You can get up to an easy 240 wheel horse power (about 280 at the flywheel) with injectors, more boost (modified APC) and water injection. But much past that is working the little TE05 turbo way too much, so you have to updgrade the turbo. Of course, these cars don't weigh much, so that much power makes these pretty quick once the turbo spools up. Mine kicks butt in the 30-90 MPH range.
PM me if you want me to point you to some resources.
Dave

Meh Saabs
My supercharged Porsche Boxster eats them for breakfast.
AND I can fit a 1209S in the front boot and all of the bits I took off to fit it in go in the rear boot.. and then my ex-wife will sit (and break) the lenses which I had to put on the seat next to me.

Hmmm, if I spent as much on say my Viggen as you did on the supercharged Boxster, I'd have over 500 HP one like one of the guys in out little U.S. SAAB hot rodding circle.
He only has a 2.0 liter in his, my Viggen has a 2.3 in it, so I should be able to get a little more. Here is his last dyno run (note this is wheel horsepower, so crank horsepower is close to 500 HP):
http://www.kyankton.net/images/enlarged/NG900_Dyno/5-26%20Dyno%20Run%20001.jpg
But, my SPG ain't too bad, last time it dynoed at about 300 HP at the wheels. And that did cost half as much (or less) as your supercharged boxter.
But, hey, look at your VIN, my Viggen and your Boxter may have been build in the same plant.

| Basically your Porche Boxster, Saab Viggen and my bathtub Saab 96 are same car, since all those three are made in same Finnish factory.

Pretty!! But all made in Finland??
| Quote: | | Do you even know what Saab stand for? |
Of course I do! I've driven Saabs for over 20 years, and I've been to Stockholm half a dozen times. Svenska Aeroplan AB. AB = Aktie Bolaget if I remember right, roughly analagous to "Inc." or "Ltd." That's where their "born from jets" ad campaign comes from, though I'm not sure if they use that one outside the US.
I wonder how many Viggen drivers know their car is not the first Viggen that Saab made?? I'm surprised they never came out with a ground-based Draken...

Man, I need to find a nice 96 like that.
Only 1 of our 3 SAABs were made in Finland.
Since there were only 82 Yellow 3 Dr. Viggens brought into the U.S., I had to find one and have it delivered. Here is the Viggen being delivered and meeting her stable mate.

(Well, I tried the Img tag but couldn't get it to work, first attempt, it was bound to fail, so you got to click the link.)
