I've read many times about setting G2's using the factory preset (at least that's what I think they mean) 6500K setting in the projector (BG808). But the more I learn the more I'm confused.

After I set up the projector with a Sencor then my projector is set to "6500K" right? Now these are different settings than what the factory preset 6500K give for the amp and preamp voltages. Sencor 6500K is not Barco 6500K. Isn't adjusting R/B bias and gain really just changing the output voltage for the amps and preamps?

In the past I have reset to the Barco 6500K setting, adjusted G2's, then punched in my bias/gain settings from the Sencor to set to "my" 6500K. Should I be setting G2's using the Sencor 6500K?

I'm thinking that this may be why I had premature wear on my green tube. BTW-ideally shouldn't both 6500K's be the same? Confused Confused

Trust the Sencore analyzer. Barco's factory settings would have been referenced to the readings of a color analyzer originally in any case.

As tubes wear and components change value, the color temperature will drift for ANY settings.

Doesn't the R/B cutoff and G2's interact with each other? If so, then should I recheck the G2's after setting grayscale? Should I go back a couple of times until I have the correct G2 AND the correct grayscale?

I would set G2's using Barco 6500K then correct grayscale with the Sencore. After that my G2's were no longer set right but I just thought that was the procedure.

Could an incorrect G2 (even slightly) result in premature tube wear?

No the 6500 setting on the Barco, like on any display, is just a pre-setting and is likely to be way off. Obviously unless the machine is brand new, it's likely to be completely off. you have to set it yourself with the sencore.
