I use my G90 once a week.
I am wondering if it is preferred to turn the unit off at the main supply after use, instead of just switching it to standby via the remote.
By a full power down, will this remove the residual power going to the caps and other components and therefore prolong their life?
My G90 has a new Dallas chip fitted up.

I don't own a G90, but my 2 cents on this for any electronic device:
Nothing wrong with leaving a device plugged and powered such that you can use the remote to turn it on quickly. Killing power completely to the unit would only stop the "standby" electronics from being energized, not the entire projector. So you wouldn't be prolonging the life of most of the other components. In standby (waiting for the remote) TVs, projectors and other devices typically only consume a watt or two of power as all that is powered up is a tiny circuit with an RF or IR receiver, just waiting to get a signal from your remote.

The answer might be different if you have flaky power -- frequent dropouts or spikes, bad lightning problems, etc. But for most situations Craig and Kal are of course 100% right.

I used to turn off and disconnect the power cable from the G90 whenever I was anticipating an electrical storm. Rest of the time (99.5%) it was in Standby for over 16 years.
