Hello ,

I just recovered this projector that I had given to a friend , this projector remained without working for more than ten years .
After some code 04 it ended up working .
With a concern on the blue tube:
No video signal and no name display menus.
Problem with the VPH 05 video amp?
My friend wanted to throw it away and I put it back in service , I know that this 1251 is not the best of projectors but I might as well run it again , it will certainly please another nostalgic .

Good evening.

Pierre-Marie

Unless it's bad solder connections on the blue video board, yes, I'd suspect the VPH chip. I'm assuming the test patterns don't come up on the blue tube either?

Hello Curt,
Always available to help
No menu or pattern or videos.
On my side I checked and cleaned all the connectors from the input board to the socket of the blue tube .
I found a vph to buy for 36 € I will try ca.
It was the problem on the B800/B801 these amps vph. I remember vph 06
Another question
I found on an ad a 1270 card lot, the 1270 AC card can replace the 1251?

good night (for the Europeans) Wink

If I remember correctly, the 1271 and 1272 and 125X will interchange, but not the 1270. Check the connectors in the service manuals available online, I'm pretty sure the 1270 blue output card is different.

BUt.. the video output chip is probably the same, so if you want to swap those between boards, you should be good to go.

Hello Curt,

I looked on the documents online on your site ,and from what I saw; only 1251 and 1270 are equipped with vph 05, the others have vph 06.
To be checked again.
I bought a VPH 05 Nos in Italy via Ebay.

Thank you.

Have a good day

Yes, some of those chips can be interchanged, it's the video bandwidth spec that mainly changes between chips. Some of the chips aren't interchangeable though, and either won't work, or will cause streaking, etc.

Hello ,

VPH05 replaced but the problem of no video (no menus or pattern either) persists .

The best is to find a CA Board (B)?

Have a good day,

Pierre-Marie.

Yes, I'd say so. You might also have a problem on the RGB input board, that drives the CA(B) board. IN fact, pull out the RGB input board and reseat it to see if that works.

Hello Curt,

Can you tell me the name of this RGB card? I’m not familiar with abbreviations Sony .. BA and BB ?

I took out the input cards BA and BB , I have no video signal of course , but the patterns and menus still appear on the green and red tube.

Thank you.

Pierre-Marie.

OK, yes, the input cards, with the RGBHV connectors on it. Sounds like the CA(B) is bad.

Hello Curt ,

Not having great knowledge of electronics, I will have to find the right card.
On the 1270 it is indeed a vph 05 but not the right circuit and on the 1271/1272 it is apparently the same circuit but it is a vph06.
The spare parts of the 1251 are more difficult to find here in France.
I will wait for the good announcement on ebay or on the French site Le Bon Coin.
Thank you very much for your help.
Have a good day,
Pierre-Marie.
