Never heard of that! Wonder if it's 6 tube for increased light output or do they have two? (They don't say).

It looks like it’s a single 6-tube chassis, but the manual indicates it only has three tubes…??

That 6 tube version there is a stacked setup of it, it was a pretty industrial piece of equipment with how it was designed. The whole setup with the input box, the projector control box, and the projector itself was called the "FPH-670W" while the projector itself was the VPH-670W.

What is most notable is that this 1981 Sony projector, as far as I am aware, is the first crt projector to openly support a 2.35 aspect ratio. It is only 480i though. I bought an advertisement of it off eBay, I thought it was too interesting to pass up, here is a picture of it.
