|
|
Hi guys,
am enjoying a 909 for almost a year now and love it. Watched a movie one evening and shut down normally. Next evening it would not power up. It appeared to me a remote control issue. Nether the remote or internal remote would power up the PJ. After a little searching on the forums I found a note by Curt indicating a reset/sync with the little recessed button and three 0's. I tried this first on the external remote and then internal. The PJ powered up when I pressed the reset and the first of the 0 button input on the internal remote. Watched a movie like this. Could not shut down with either the remote to the same internal remote keyboard command so used the power switch. This behavior continues.
Can anyone help me trouble shoot the remotes? The reset and three 0's has been done with no effect.
Thank,
Chuck

Three possibilities:
1) Bad remote
2) Bad IR pickup
3) Bad controller board.
If you can find a stereo 3.5mm cable, plug the wireless remote into the jack on the front, turning it into a wired remote. See if that works.

Hi Curt thank you. I tried the cable with no success. Neither the remote nor the internal keyboard work at all with the exception of the internal keyboard turning on the set when the number is "0" pressed. This is with and without cable. Since both remote an internal are not working either with or without cable can I surmise correctly that eliminates the IR and the remote and that it is the controller board? If so might you have a replacement?

It likely is the controller board then. I do have one, but it's going to be another couple of weeks before I get to testing Barco 909 parts. Right now I have a big studio tape deck in the way of my screen, and need to get that repaired and out of the way before I can set up my test projector.
The controller board isn't cheap though, figure on $500 USD or so including shipping.

Ouch, that is indeed costly. Are there any obvious checks that can be done with the board with a DVM? Otherwise please put me down for a board when it becomes available.
Many Thanks,

The only other option is for you to send me your board to confirm that it's bad.
