Linux sounds like a fun project, but I already have too many of those at the moment.

PS: I was surprised to see that Minecraft will run on Linux.

When you have games that work on Linux from GOG.com or steam the OS just gets out of the way. It becomes the facilitator instead of the focus. It's like an event hall. You don't particularly care which hall it is, you have heat, light, power and a place to sit.

Windows 10 excels at sucking resources in the background and doing its Telemetry. It would be like having the staff at the hall looking over your shoulder recording everything you do. Linux doens't do that so your system has more resources to run the game faster. Better frame rates, less lag etc..

Back in the Win95 and Win98 days it's was a more pure gaming experience. Your computer booted, loaded the motherboard , network, video and sound drivers then you launched a game and you were off and running. No background bull****.

Call me nostalgic but I like to get back to that level of gaming. Just the game please, OS get the fk outta the way.

Another issue with Windows 10 and blocking telemetry is Windows still tries to connect. Even when it can't so there's still back ground bull****. It's just not going anywhere.BUT still using resources.
Also the "Updates" are bigger than an entire linux download. That little Win 10 box was looking to install a 2.4gb "update" This entire Pepermint OS I am running today is 1.5gb. Bloatware.

The updates are a pain in the ass. I don't understand why they have to be so big. It seems like a new install, not an update. And maybe it is a new install.

I would gladly pay for Windows if it would allow me to have control over the updates.

Windows 10 is what they call a "Live" operating system they can change the entire thing all the time. Offten breaking things in the process.

If you are using WiFi you can set your connection to metered and prevent Windoze from downloading updates. Not secure but it's a way to give them the finger.

I ended up buying a used AMD RX 580 8GB video card to see if it would make a difference. It didn't. So I dragged bt DAW computer iubti the living room and installed the 580 into it.Big difference! Fortnite run well on it, And it handles the Vive as well. See my new thread.

We get some old game systems in the pawn shop every once in a while. I got $400 for a game cartridge that I can not recall what it was. The buyer was also a seller, so I probably sold it way too cheap.

Because colectors.

I imagine it may have been a limited release game. Not sure.

A fiend of mine is a collector. He has paid $100+ for an empty game box.

According to this site (which I assume must be a collector reference site) it's only worth $10-$20 ??
https://www.pricecharting.com/game/nes/bubble-bobble

I played a lot of arcade games in the early 80's -- Tempest, Missile Command, Donkey Kong, Dragon's Lair, etc. BB came out in 1986, so I wasn't feeding quite so many quarters by then. But it was supposedly one of Taito's most popular titles, so I'm surprised I never heard of it.

That's BubbleBobble 1. It's number two that's rare.

Bubble Bubble 2 came in a case of several games, many like new in the box, including Bubble Bubble 1. I got $100 for a game I can't recall. The rest weren't worth much.

Say, there's something to this N64. It looks freakin' amazing at 240P on a 14" Sony PVM monitor.
I was bleary eyed playing Cruisn' USA, then realized it was 3:45am lol.

Good system.

I decided to build a gaming PC for VR. Considering how quickly my grand kids quickly get bored with something I shouldn't do it, but I haven't built a PC in a long time and want to build one.

I made my first purchase today, a used EVGA SC2 Hybrid 1080 ti. Going price on ebay is $400-425. I paid $300. As far as I can tell that should more than cover any demands of the current headsets and games.

Ha. There's a juxtaposition; you're buying a GeForce 1080 and I'm ouuuing and ahhhing over 240p

It dawned on me that the N64 is 640 x 480 @50/60Hz. And it apparently has trouble doing that. How do you benefit from 240FPS?

No N64 outputs 240p as in instead of 480 interlaced they give us 240 progressive. Not frame rate. Not Frames Per Second.
