He means that any CRT projector of the grade of a Sony 1272 isn't desirable.
Other than some of the ones at the bottom of our rankings list ( http://www.curtpalme.com/Projector_Rankings.shtm ) they're not worth anything.

If you intend on using it for a while that's the best position as you'll find that sitting directly below it is the best seat in the house.

Most (including myself) do not recommend changing fans. Unless the fans are actually defective and noisy (unlikely) most of the noise is from air turbulence. The only way to make things quieter by changing fans is to but lower speed fans but then the unit will run hotter.
Are you able to hushbox on the ceiling and vent elsewhere like my first link posted earlier? That's the best way and makes a big difference for noise.

Something like a stove temp probe with cable taped to various heat sinks. Run it with/without whatever mods or hushbox you plan on using to see the difference. That's what I've always done. As mentioned above, my method of hushboxing actually made my PJs run cooler.

Awesome. Thank you so much for the information. I really appreciate it.
I may keep an eye out for something different, but I am actually decently happy with what I have. If a G70/G90 is floating about, perhaps I'll grab one of those if they're compatible with the various IFBs I have. (Which it looks like it is?)

No idea - maybe someone more familiar with Sony's can chime in. While some IFB boards from a Sony 1272 may work in a G90 you may not want that. The G90 was a complete revamp and Sony's last kick at the can as far as CRT projectors were concerned and they were going for performance, so you probably wouldn't want the quality you'd see from using a 1272 RGB input board in a G90.

You may be correct, but with the exception of one or two HD inputs, I'm really putting a handful of S-Video and composite signals through. (various gaming consoles) I can't really imagine those inputs really having that much of a quality boost from using a new IFB until I decide to try and get RGB from a few of them.
Really I'd only need maybe one good board for any HD signals I'd want to use for movies, etc.

Yeah. Like I said, I'm fairly happy with what I have. The better peak lumens sounds nice and I don't know if it's any less noisy, but it's certainly not a must.
Also fat scanlines? That's my jam.
Thanks for the info.

Kal | I used a PC gamer's aux fan control unit and tw0 120mm silent X fans for my hush box. 4 temp probes with temp and fan speed monitor and audible alarm . One of the best cheapest solutions I ever crafted.
