Trying to beef up the focus on my Ehome 8500.

The focus in different parts of the screen is off (i.e. red is sharp in the top half, soft on the bottom half, green sharp on one side, softer on the other).

Went into the service menu to work on the RGB focus. Don't think it solved the issue.

Not sure what is causing this.

I think I will need to recalibrate the setup from the start. Or could this be hardware issue?

Chassis has 40K hours on it, tubes about 4K hours.

Have you adjusted the Scheimpflug settings? That would produce side-to-side or top-to-bottom focus errors like you're seeing.

Try turning down the contrast, then pull the lenses and look directly at the tube face. If the image is sharp on the tube face, it's an optical issue -- probably Scheimpflug.

If the image on the tube face shows the focus problem, something else is wrong.

What are the standard focus settings in the service RGB focus menu? I've tried tweaking them and want to put them back to factory before messing the Scheimpflug settings.

Set the astig and focus by putting the contrast at 100% and look into the lenses with sunglasses on. Assuming the electronics work fine, then you should be able to focus the test grid on the tube face just fine, and any lack of focus is the Scheimpflug adjustments which are covered in the manual. Don't touch the electronic and astig settings on the remote while working on the mechanical Scheimpflug settings.

That should do it.

Dang, messing up the forum postings.

I asked about this years ago.

This what I need adjusting.

From the 8500 manual.

Anyone recall the driver size and length needed to reach the bolt?

I can't find mine now, but I made one from a couple of stock tool parts at Home Depot -- $15 or so if I remember right (but it's been over 10 years sooo...)
